This will be the big summer runout to be held in central northern scotland.

Meeting point is Asda in Huntly car park and the route will be decided at the time, but planning in taking in a lot of northern towns including Elgin etc.

Hoping for some great weather and a good turnout.

Re: AONS summer runout

Is anybody else likely to confirm they are going on this runout as;
a) I don't want to be a billy no mates sat in Huntly making a numpty of myself by propositioning innocent alfa drivers who know nothing about this forum
b) I'm supposed to be going out tonight so need to know if I can have a couple of beers or a lot of beers

Re: AONS summer runout

I will not be attending as its my b/day today and i have been told what my surprises are,i now intend to be having quite a few drinks.

Along with a thick head 2moro,dont think it would be suitable to get behind the wheel.

Re: AONS summer runout

Did this go ahead? Apologies, due to my parents putting our house on the market I have been working flat out all weekend to get the house ready, therefore I would not have been able to come.

Re: AONS summer runout

In a word no, without wanting to get drawn into a blame game this should have been called off due to lack of interest.

Unfortunately as I am a man of my word I headed upto Huntly on sunday in case anybody else decided to show up, put it this way it was the furthest I have ever gone to pick up a paper and a loaf of bread. That however is my responsibility as I'm an adult and took the decision to drive up there, however to add insult to injury I got a puncture on the way home as I was going round a roundabout near Blackburn so as you may have guessed I was not a happy bunny by the time I got home yesterday.

If I could make a suggestion for future meets and this comes from several years of organising a rugby team and a football team. Most folk are not good at commiting to something if arrangements are vague, if you give people a choice of dates, routes or whatever you will get everybody deliberating for ages. Things need to be run along the lines of a (benign) dictatorship, so just picking a random example you could say the third weekend in every odd month (jan, mar, may etc.) is a meet weekend. That way everybody knows a long time in advance when things are and can arrange other things round it rather than waiting til the last minute and trying to shoehorn in a meet round everybodys busy schedules.

This is in no way meant as a personal attack on anybody, just my tuppence worth about how things could be improved to avoid the debacle which was yesterday.

Re: AONS summer runout

I'm sorry to hear you had a wasted journey yesterday madyak, I'm also sorry I didn't try a little harder to make it.

I totally agree about the organisation of the meets, obviously Ransoman has had some personal problems lately so the meet suffered by not getting his full attention (we do not expect it to either with your current situation Ransom).

I feel we should make it say the last Sunday of the month (after my pay day ). And try and make it a set place to meet every time. That way we don't have the delay of deciding where to start the meeting. Maybe change it every 6 months, but that gives you time to decide a new location.

Also, in future if there is less than 3 members with a definite Yes 24hours beforehand then there should just be a rule that that meeting is officially cancelled. That way we wont risk any other members wasting their time and (very expensive just now) petrol/diesel.

This is just my tuppence worth and I apologise for my poor spelling.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: AONS summer runout

madyak, apologies for the wasted journey.

Guys, good suggestions on the more structured approach, this should definately be a consideration for future meets.

I have not brought spoken to the rest of the reps, but due to my current situation i cannot dedicate any time to AONS. Therefore i am going to take some time off. I don't want to leave the role but it is unfair on this region that i cannot do anything right now. I am going to take approx 6 months off untill my life has settled a bit and i am comfortable again. In the meantime, i hope to recruit another regional rep to cover us.

Sorry for the inconvienience.

Andrew.

Re: AONS summer runout

Sorry to hear Malc that you had the wasted miles

As it is now clear that the rep does not need to be in attendance, surely a run at relatively short notice in the good weather is not too difficult.

After all, your only a few mile away from me,and its still daylight till 10pm

Re: AONS summer runout

Hiya guys. I'm up to offer any help I can from down my way. And, if I manage north for a week in October (as I have done over the past few years) I'll try and arrange to meet up with some of you guys. In the mean time I'll be off on me own holidays from Monday (21st July), but feel free to drop me a PM or whatever before then if you want. I'll, obviously, try to keep up with what's happening with the region in the mean time.

Happy trails
FF

Re: AONS summer runout

Derek
I'm definately up for a wee runout, but I am only about for the next week before I disappear offshore for a couple of weeks so depending on your availability it might have to wait til I get back. I'm not too bothered about being a billy no mates on sunday (although I was when I spent an hour or so in kwik fit waiting for them to fix my tyre ) as the car needed driving as I've been cycling to work the last month and the car has moved about twice in that time.
