Re: AONS summer runout
I think there are some crossed wires here, appreciate your offer to be of assistance Frank by the way.
But it would be a matter of courtesy if an answer was given by Simonp,as thats who i put the question to,i am sure that next time he is on he will do so.

Re: AONS summer runout
Just to keep every one posted I have two interested parties but given that Andrew stepped down less than a week ago and the thread for potential Reps hasn't been up that long I'd like to give it one more week to give any one interested a chance to apply
Thanks Everyone
Tony

Derek, I think Simon just meant someone located in the AONS area, not necessarily from Inverness (Although I do consider the north east to be my 'Spiritual' Home

Yes you were right frank , I meant someone from the AONS area not necessarily Inverness, in fact I had Geordie and Smaky in mind as likely candidates,
Looking at the other area meets they have had a lot of activity whereas this area has had little and it would be good to see someone from the area able to put in the time to get the AONS more active, I paid my membership to hopefully be involved in some of these meets and meet some of the knowledgeable people on alfas and see other alfas that's all
@ Bampot if it was Black and on the road from Loch Ness to Inverness it was me , were you in a ref Alfa ? I remember passing one

Re: AONS summer runout
Thanks for your response Simon
While were on the subject of individuals and what we want from AO
Can i put the question out there for discussion amongst area members, what is it you would like to see from an area rep, what kind of events or meets would you like to attend if organised or whatever you feel like discussing.
After all this is our area and therefore i feel its important to get a feel for where we wish to improve things
Thats my twopence worth

Re: AONS summer runout
well its kind of on the subject so ill throw this in,
as I stay in the centre of scotland I can pretty much say im AOSS and AONS hence why I always post on both sections, trouble I have is that to go to any meets it a biggish distance for me (and i work like a *****) maybe there could be more combined meets so that both areas can meet?? I know im not the only member in this position.
Im not saying it should be every month but something like once a month for the regions and maybe every 3-4 months on a scottish meet?? Dont get me wrong I love driving distances
I know things will need to be settled on AONS first just throwing a few ideas

Re: AONS summer runout
I think as we are still finding our feet as a region we need the rep to be the equivalant of all bran - keeping meets nice and regular.
Going for a blast on some of the bendy roads we are blessed with up here is all well and good but fuel costs are obviously starting to become a bit of an issue for folk.
I for one have an embarresingly small knowledge of what goes on under my bonnet, just that the car goes very quick when I plant my right foot and would appreciate any pointers, this could be addressed by maybe having static meets for the folk with dead fancy alfas to come along and show off and the idiots like me to learn something new. Although this might be more difficult to find a suitable location for unless we risk ASBO's and usurp the bouley bashers down aberdeen beach
Also anymore takers on going for an unsanctioned run on saturday evening

Re: AONS summer runout
I would like AONS to have a nubile club massuese (Atomic Kitten, maybe) who could give you topless baby oil rubs, free parts for your alfa, free fuel, and more baby oil rubs, not to much to ask for really

Re: AONS summer runout
Atomic kitten, I think we should set our sights a bit higher than that we are Alfa owners after all. If we got in the Pussycat Dolls there would probably be enough of them for one each!

Re: AONS summer runout
The problem with the NOS is not as you all think the lack of organisation, but the lack of AO's and the great distances between us,Inverness is 50 minutes for me and Aberdoom is double that, then if we think of heading south to the Strathy (though it is my native homeland) that's 3 1/2 hours on a good day, the big trouble is that the roads are sh1te up here, I have to drive an hour to find the nearest dual-carraigeway, the only reason I notice the view is because we up here can't go fast enough to miss them.
But to end this monologue, I think if we say the second sunday in September, for a meet, have a top left and a top right cruise, both meeting up in say...Spey bay, then a bimble down the speyside route and back up the Grantown to Forres road returning to Spey bay via the coast road for a BBQ or something, 5 hours driving the route calmly followed by a burger and beer, how's that sound?

Re: AONS summer runout
Malcolm, your desire to be more understanding on your car comes with part of this site and local members
There is so much technical info on AO forum that even as a novice in an engine bay,it becomes quite easy to get a grasp of the basics, anything specific and there is always Alex(Smaky)who knows most alfa's technically, especially selespeed gearboxes
Should be able to make 6.30 2mora nite @ duthie, will give ya a buzz on the mobile 2mora.
Good point by PG1,sadly cost of fuel is starting to bite and will have an effect as we see it increasing over the summer,i heard that we may be looking at 1.50 for derv b4 the year is out
I would like to see a trackday @ knockhill for the scotland section, this is central scotland for those that dont know and nr dunfermline, great opportunity to meet and have some fun at the same time, needs to be planned well in advance as the booking and cost can vary depending on how many would like to go on the track.
There is a cafe so food and somewhere to keep warm, can come in handy,as it has a bit of a reputation
