North East Meet

We haven’t had one for a while.

We really should.

I’m all out of ideas.

Inspire me!

What should we do?

Where and when should we do it?

sit outside a pub somewhere?
meet somewhere and then nice drive to a pub or place?
curry or bowling?
quay side in toon?
hartside meet?
could do a proper photoshoot somewhere, a nice location, you know, park the cars up in a dramatic kind of way. Im not sure how to park cars in a dramatic kind of way but could work something out. Assuming someone can take pics. I cant.
could go down the amusements. maybe not.
game of rounders/softball. maybe not.
urban exploration? like off that 28days later site.. UK Urban Exploration Forums
just a brainstorm of mostly inappropriate ideas.

Okay for you lot who aren't up on their geography................the Military Road runs from west of Newcastle to Greenhead which is about 15 miles east of Carlisle.........Housesteads Car Park is roughly 30 miles west of Newcastle along the Military Road (it's a great road for driving.............long Roman straights with a few great dips and bends)......and if we go on a weekend there's a little cafe at Housesteads too!

What about the weekend of 22/23 May for the Roman Wall run or one evening for the Fish and Chip run?

Any thoughts?

A couple of RV points perhaps......Washington Services for those in Tyneside/Wearside or for those in the south of the region they could take the A68 direct to the junction with the Miltary Road and meet up at The Errington Arms Pub...........then onwards to Housesteads (about 20 miles from there).

We could eat/drink at the pub before or after the run.....the pub is car enthusiast friendly (The Ferrari Owners Club used to meet there).

It's only 12.8 miles from the The Errington Arms to Housesteads Roman Fort.

How much further along the military road should we go?

*Edit* - Sorry, just seen you mention Greenhead above.

We could go as far as Greenhead or just short of it and call in to Vindolanda or Steel Rigg.

Check out Brocolita............it's got a very picturesque car park for us all!

The Military road is a cracking drive, but not very Roman - built by General Wade in the mid 1700's You have to watch out for the power rangers and police though - and the two nasty dips !!
