newcastle clutch nightmare.

OK i had a great evening!!

Stuck in some reasonable traffic on a friday night in the middle of Newcastle My GTV starts smelling a bit fresh.

Immediately, alarm bells are ringing. My Clutch pedal ends up sticking to the floor and im stuck.

Rac confirmed that the clutch has burnt out, and i was already aware that the clutch release bearing needed attention so its probably a cumulation of that.

So im thinking i need a new clutch, which i probably did anyway. Anyone know how much it would/should cost to replace the whole lot?

Yours gutted Newcastle.

Ian at Lyles of Newcastle, would be my first port of call.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately i got it towed to the nearest garage, a guy i know, but to be honest not sure if he is giving a good deal or not.
he is charging me 495 quid.

250 for the clutch he said (i found one from a breakers place that is apparently brand new and that is 217 including postage etc)
so 245 for the labour.

Sounds a bit steep. See Alfa Romeo GTV Clutches

I wouldn't know about the labour but I'm sure these guys or the likes of Autolusso, EB Spares, All Things Alfa, would give you an indication - even Lyles & Benfield. Get some other quotes if its not too late. Its a standard job so should come with a set rate at a specialist. Perhaps there is scope to bargain him down.
