Straightliners 1/4 mile event..
As above there is another straightliners event on the 1st/2nd of august
Its held at kirkbride airfield - 10 miles west of carlisle.
I went to the last one in may and it was highly entertaining. More so if you are more of a petrolhead than just an afa lover. lots of ridiculously quick hatches, alongside mint motors such as RS4's, BMW's, 911 turbo, GTR's etc etc aswell as mental bikes,
its not often you see a corsa rape a 911 turbo, or a new GTR matching an R1!!
its only 5 notes to get in and watch and an exta 30 notes to "race what you bring" Would love to see another gta there !
For £5 would seriously recommend going een if its just to spectate.
Had 2 fabulous 147 gta's but also
clio v6, m3, mazda 3 mps's, fiat coupe 20vt, nissan pulsar, clio f1, clio 172 cup, megane 225, renault 5 gtt's, xr2, bmw 320, afla 156 2.4jtd, twingo gt, 306 gti-6, rs2000, clio valver, rover 220 turbo, 335d touring,
And now jb4'd 135i with bmw performance bits
A WOMEN DROVE ME TO DRINK. . . . . AND I NEVER HAD THE COURTESY TO THANK HER.

she no doubt will give me a run for my money, and i am prepared to be hammered by all the nova,s, corsa's, civics, etc etc
A well running gta should run in the 14's comfortably i recon, so if it doesnt it will back up my theory of my car not running as it should.
i see your pug is a gti 6, i take it is a 306 not a 306 gti-6 transplanted 205??

yeah that's right mate, i've got an old F Reg 205 GTI though! But i'm afraid that's not quite in the condition it used to be.
One day, when finances and time allows, i'll put the 306 engine in it and put the 306 in for scrappage.
The pug pulls like a train

That would make a perfect pug, be interesting to see how the lighter 306 fairs against the gta. . . . Probably not a lot in it over the quarter

Got a nice little turbo in mine, best time over the 1/4 is 14.6, so i reckon it'd be fairly close.
But it needs a good blowout before attempting this, don't drive it that often.
Had been toying with the idea of transplating the gti 6 into the 205, but still need to fully investigate the chassis and bodywork on the 205 as it's been sat dead for about 8 years (looks ok, but still)
If that fails, think i might rally prep the 306 and take it a jaunt on the snowman rally next year.

I'm just looking forward to seeing your GTA! Never seen one in the flesh before, they're somewhat of a rarity in Scotland!

Ive been up to Crail before, but this would actually be quicker for me to get to. I agree the GTA should be in the 14s, done 16.8 in my old 147 JTD and 15.7 in a 3.2 vectra GSI. It will also let you see if yours is on song or not Jamie.
