My dead Alfa back to life!! Thank you F.A.S.T

My Oil burning 156 died on me the other day, couldn't get it started for love nor money so i got the RAC round to have a look.
The RAC man had a look round couldn't get anything, then he plugged his computer in and a list of faults as long as your arms flashed up on your screen to which he said "oo that looks expensive to sort out", well my heart sank!! but then he checked a few more things and told me to start it up while he 'jiggled' a fuse box in the engine bay and low and behold she fired up. The RAC man admitted he didn't know why it had started, as he was 'jiggling' a different fuse box to the one he meant to 'jiggle' but it had and he was a bit reluctant to turn it off and try to start it again.

I rang FAST who said to bring it straight down, so i drove down there fairly gingerly. After I explained what the RAC man had done and said, they told me it his computer was probably wrong and it sounded like a relay switch had gone which wouldn't be "very expensive!" I got a call an hour later off Barry to tell me it was a relay and it would cost me £15 to replace.

Job done and my Alfa is running better than ever, so thank you Barry and Paul at FAST.

I'm glad your car is fixed! My last experience with the RAC was very iffy! My other car developed a misfire, and the engine management light started flashing. I called the RAC, and the guy told me it was OK to drive it 20 miles home with the light flashing. I have since learned that the CAT can be damaged by driving in this fashion . The next MOT emissions test will be interesting .....

Think it stands for "Fiat & Alfa, Stockton on Tees". They're on Portrack Lane.
