I had a rented Punto awhile back and it had one of these red LED's that shines down from the roof light and lights up the gear lever/handbrake area with a sort of eerie red glow. I see the light fitting in the roof is exactly the same on my facelift 147 but I don't have the red glowing effect. Should I have it and its just not working? If not how difficult is it to add??
I managed to get hold of a light from a Bravo which has the LEDs fitted. The main connector is a straight swap but it also has a connection for the LEDs. I've found two plugs up by the windscreen in the 147 but the connecting plugs are different, but I can just cut this off and solder it. Does anyone know which plug I should use?
Hi, Can anyone confirm the part number 1560808850 has the led lights on it.
I was speaking to a local breakers and they say it has the 2 small holes in the lens but other than a part number they can't confirm anything else. Nothing showed up on Google.
Thanks
I've had a look for the cable that can be used for switching the red LED's on with headlights and found this connector, is this what I'm after, obviously it's not the correct size of connector ( I only need 2 cables for LED connection)
Does anyone know of small crimps I could put on to connect cables to the connection on light unit, its 2 quite small pins or is there a better way that someone who has done it can share.
Dredging up an old thread but it's better than making a new one on the same subject I think. I have a 147 GTA and want to put the sexy Giulietta/Mito interior light in that has the LED downlights. Do they all have them or is it just some models? Do the QV variants have different interior lights as I've seen references to putting QV lights in the GTA but my googling hasnt turned up any lights that are unique to the QVs. Thanks for any info that can clear up my dilemma
I've done this mod in my 156, and also couldn't definitively establish whether all Mito internal lights had the LEDs or not. I was buying from a breaker so just asked them to confirm the LEDs were on the unit I was buying. I don't have any idea if there are different QV lights I'm afraid. Maybe try posting the question in the Mito and Giulietta lounges as well, probably more likely to get an answer in there (if you haven't already).
I'd have thought a quick call to a dealer parts department should clear it up though. I wouldn't suggest buying from there, but they ought to be able to tell you if there are any differences between the parts. Just pretend you are planning to buy from them
Do the mito light fitting with the led downlighter fit the GT with no modification? The idea is super but after reading this whole thread I'm not sure i understand what actually fits and i can go and source and fit? Thanks, John.
Finally sourced a Giulietta light with the LEDs, but it has two extra connectors. One on the same side as the main one and one on the other side and both sets of wiring go towards where the LEDs are so I don't know which ones to connect power to. I think there is a Mic. which requires the third connector. Does anyone know which set of wires I need to connect power to for the LEDs? Thanks
Yes there is another plug on the bottom right and both pairs of wires go to the same place, as I already mentioned. I guess I can tape a few batteries together to get 12V and connect both to see which makes the led go on.
So that spare unused connector in the roof turns out to be 2.6V :grumpy: Not enough to power the LEDs. How disappointing, have no idea how to proceed now, maybe get an auto sparky to wire up another 12V but that will cost a bundle.
If I remember correctly one of the wires going to the interior light plug becomes live when car is unlocked and stays on then goes off again after locking , I think that is what I used...
Just use the "make up mirror" light as a source.
That thing over the passenger seat. It works only on ignition. That's how I did it.
And mine is green
On the 147 the makeup mirrors are in the sun visor and are activated by a switch in the cover. The power going to them is also constant so can't use that unfortunately.
Does the Giulietta have a rear light that also swaps with the 147?? Don't really care about downlights here just that my rear light doesn't match the front now haha
