Hi out there.
I Joned today after a very brief ownership of a lovely looking 156 Selectronic. Very pleased with the car both handling and looks. However, 23 miles after having cam belt change after advise from AA inspector the car came to a halt with white smoke pouring from the exhaust oil light on and the engine sounding like a bucket of ball bearings.
AA arrived and said sounds serious possibly valve or piston. Engine turns over but is firing on two cylinders. To say I am gutted is an understatement. 80000 miles on the clock and 2002 registered I felt I had bought a great car. The garage are looking at it but feel it may be terminal. My first decent car and one week down the road car less again.
Have any of you guys got any thoughts on what may have happened. I was on country lanes and only able to drive the 23 miles at 45 / 50 average.
Thoughts would be appreciated. I only hope the repair is possible both financially and mechanically. Due to changing cam belt the garage will not honour the warranty.... Small print stinks.
Thanks in advance.
Gordon.
