EGR blanked, dongle installed and DPF drilled - any benefit in a re-map?

(Re my 159 1.9 JTDM)

Hi all,

Sometime ago I drilled the inner core of my DPF at the back end. This has fixed the regular regen and engine management light issues. All good.

I've just blanked the EGR and fitted a Fixitsan dongle and now the car feels smooth and much improved as many reports suggest.

I'm wondering, is there any point in getting a re-map without ditching the DPF for a section of straight-thru pipe? Now that I don't have any DPF issues, it would be nice to have more power but I'm obviously conscious that the car has done 100K and don't want to upset the apple cart, ruin the clutch etc. Alfas have a nasty habit of biting you on the arse if you change / modify anything.

Obviously a re-map is cheaper than doing a re-map with DPF removal. Also, there are many places that do re-maps. Is there anything special that has to be considered for the Alfa 1.9 JTDM engine?

With the steering reservoir upgraded with green PAS fluid (when I purchased the car) along with the rebuilt M32 gearbox, drilled DPF and blanked EGR, I've hopefully covered the main nags that seems to haunt the poor 159 JTDM.

Your thoughts / views / suggestions appreciated as always.

To be honest, that's what I think. Just got to resist the temptation for more power!!
