The strangest place I've ever found a key. And it's brand new, not a scratch or smudge on it. I can only assume it's been there from build, as you can see from the picture.where did I find it? Inside the dash, tucked in the right hand side of where the stereo fits. It still has some sort of code label on it..
It starts the car no problem, and the little led flashes, but won't remote lock. Is there any easy way of syncing to the car? Any help gratefully received.
Even though the LED flsahes, I'd try changing the battery first. Flashing LED is not really indicative of whether it has sufficient power to transmit or not.
That is an amazing find! Also nice to have a brand new key now ;-) Putting it there as a spare does not make sense really, when the car is locked you cannot get to your spare anymore...
My GTV decided to lock itself while I drove it the other day... Luckily, I do have one working power window - on the passenger side, of course - so I gracefully climbed out like a Nascar driver. If you ever find yourself locked in, having a spare key hidden in a rather daft place is a great idea :cheese:
And yes, while we're on the topic of odd finds in cars...
I found this tucked behind the fuel vapor thingies beside the battery in my GTV:
An ancient cigarette butt... any markings seem to have vanished with time, but
I guess it's been there since the car rolled off the line in Italy.
Thanks for the link george123, I'll give them a look.
I seem to remember my Mrs Clio key lost sync once; fixed by holding the button at the same time as pressing some random combination on the dash. No such luck here!
I have a friend who worked for an Alfa dealer in London. 2 years ago there was a rattle in a customers car, they changed various things, in the end they took door card off only to find a bag of crisps and can of coke! Both with Italian writing on it!!! When they told the factory no one believed them!
:cheese: i guess the old 5 o'clock Friday car happens in Italy, too. Though more likely with a kind of 11.30am anyday sort of vibe..
Friend of mine once (stupidly, it turned out) did a full emergency stop in an old w124 merc estate on a French motorway, just for a laugh. The force of the stop pulled the prop shaft straight out of the gearbox. Turned out it was never screwed in in the first place, no bolts or sign of bolts ever being there! Shame car was stuck in the outside lane...
