hello all i seem to have a massive transmission fluid leak, i am making a mess on the drive and am putting a bottle of fluid in every 3 days, i am waiting for my garage to give me an apointment but while i am waiting, im trying to have a look at it myself ,am not too sure what i am looking for all i know is im filling the fluid up and its costly, anyone else had this problem? anything underneath that could have come undone or needs tightening? any idea where its comming from?
ideas greatly appreciated
thanx
steve
I assume this is Selespeed fluid leaking.
There is a bleed screw on the actuator (on top of the gearbox, under the battery), sometimes that works loose and you loose fluid.
There are also many other connections in between the tank and the actuator.
Also make sure you are checking the fluid level correctly, if you over fill it will push the excess out of the breather pipe. I have fitted a small bottle to catch any excess fluid lost from the breather.
hello david, thanx for your help very gratefull, ill check it out, is it ok taking battery straight off? ie any codes? radio not coded.
thanx alot
steve
hello david having had a look the bleed screw on the actuator is tight but as i was looking the pipe below was leaking, just having a go with it now,
thanx so much for your info, if you hadnt have told me i wouldnt have found it, much appreciated,
steve
I had a sudden sele failure one morning, the pics beloy are the result! I ended up having both the sele pump and actuator changed which I think was completely unnesecary but I am not a mechanic and had some probs with the garages. If you are having some probs be careful who you have look at it. From reading about some mechanics are very capable and will sort out the ACTUAL problem not just replace the system and scratch their arse. ( I am not trying to offend anyone but £2000 to sort an oil leak is a bit much). But then I am not a mechanic.
much appreciated calum, your pics look like my drive, !! ive found the leak but now i need one of the pipes which connect to the engine, ive got to wait for the part, but looks easy to connect myself,
thanx alot
steve
P.S. Am sure David C posted me info on this problem a while ago. He gave me in depth instructions. If you can pick this thread up you would find it very helpful.Z.F.
