hi

Has anyone been able to fit custom rear boxes to there 155. I desperatly want to take full advantage of the 155 engine note with a sportyer exhaust but there doesnt seem to be many available.

Has anybody had any success at fitting a non-standard back box, or is there simple not enough room.

cheers andy

Had the car up on the ramps today, what is the large thingy majjiiigy   behind the rear silencer box, looks like some kind of cat but not sure...

:cheese:
The rear exhaust system is actually welded in one long piece from the central silencer box to the back box with this thingy in the middle...

If i were to fit a custom rear box could i do get rid of this middle cat type thing, and run a pipe straight to the central silencer, or would this make mots an impossiblilty.

You will have the back box, a corner box and a little box. The cat is the biggish box at the front of the exhaust.
Don't use Universal boxes, they are too loud and they will make low down performance suffer.
The best way to get a better sound is to change the induction, as described in your other thread. If you get an exhaust which isn't matched to the engine, you will lose that nice Alfa rasp as I did when I took the cat off. I put the cat back on and the car sounds much nicer

are there any exhausts that i can fit, where i wont lose the raspy noise but maybe increase the loudness alittle.#
:D Aye,Powerflow seem popular recently and can be custom built onto the car.
:p Or Raggazzon do a nice exhaust range for 155's,you get a choice of tailpipes, number of boxes and a choice of mild or stainless,I got mine from a place called !!!!!!!!! for £350 about 18 months ago.....sounds great :D

try using powerflow exhaust they can make them to your specs whilst you wait you can have all the boxes put in or you can take 1 or 2 out to make it as loud as you want also the give you a choice of tail pipes that the can weld to your exhaust

I just got a powerflow fitted and had the little and corner silencers removed so i now just have the cat and rear box. It's a lot louder than standard (but not as loud as the Pug that was done the same time as mine ), and quite intrusive when cruising on the motorway. If you only want it a little louder i would suggest keeping all the silencers or only having one removed.

I also kept the same bore btw and seem to have benefited through the whole of the rev range.
