Driving to work and heard a fan belt squeak then a bump and no assistance, in the local garage pending being looked at any idea of costs, bit fed up with paying out two weeks ago for a new clutch and flywheel so hoping its not too much
Yes it is!!!!! Cr@ped myself thinking it did the brake assistance too, phew glad it didn't wouldn't like to stop the beast without the assistance ....................
When this went on my car I bought a new one on ebay for under £100 and it took under an hour to change my self. Accessory belt want broken so I didnt need to change it.
Yes anther crap component that can,t take the torque of the 5 pots. Probably got the same pulley as the 1.9.
But if you don't,t floor it will probably be OK. How many miles had you done ???? Its the rubber centre that breaks up maybe needs adding to service say every 50 k. ??? Think I,all do mine with the cambelt.
That's prob a sensible idea. Mine went at 70k miles, relatively cheap part £150 ish at shop4parts, less than £100 on ebay, less than an hour to change.
My car has done just over 70k with remap. I did notice for the last 4 months under acceleration I could hear a intermittent squeak, I thought it was because of the power flex bushes I had fitted but now I guess it was one of the pulleys.
car is in the garage hopefully have it back by the weekend. Currently driving around in a Vauxhall Agile, honest little car but not quite as pretty or as fast lol
I paid £300 for a new crankshaft pulley, belt, car pick up, labour and VAT in a local garage in Berkshire.
