I'm a big TB fan, but not over-impressed by this example...

Painted Ph1 lower valances, aftermarket wheels, 'unloved' under the bonnet - and a load of BS in his description (all IMHO of course!).

That said, these all things that can be easily undone / perfected... And worth doing...

Also, I believe there are 9 registered in the UK (although this may not be totally accurate) - soon to be 10 (or 'one more') when I get around to the DVLA paperwork for mine...

Cheers, Baggers.

Is that actually true about the engine being the same as the Fiat Dino?
Seats are ok but the rest of the interior doesn't look great, nor does the engine bay. No mention of service history.

Not sure I'd pay the money for it
Nope. It's the Arese V6, same as all the other 2.5, 3.0 and 3.2 versions of this famous engine (which is a lot better than the 2.0 and 2.4 V6 engine erroneously referred to).

...This Alfa is certainly not looking pampered is it...and the wheels do nothing whatsoever for me. But its rare and can be restored to its former glory. I have not a clue what the car is worth as its so rare...though as the car stands it seems a lot of wonga to ask for it in my opinion.

Certainly in the description we can say:

1) "Only 7 imported to the UK". Absolute rubbish, quite a few more than that.

2) "V6 engine derived from the Fiat Dino/Ferrari (sic) Dino 2.4". Not as far as I'm aware.

Not a fan of the aftermarket wheels either.

Why do people feel they need to hype their adds with copious bulls**t?

Maybe he feels like he has to justify the price tag

Some of the best editions of the 916 were sold in continental Europe, particularly Germany, where the Italians appear to have made more of an effort to market the GTV/916 Spider to new customers.

Two versions in particular which were mentioned in a recent thread:

Les Alfa séries spéciales.

What is interesting about the 'Sportiva' edition (released 2002) is that, apart from the very nice red stitching on the seats, this version has the 5-spoke Enzo alloys later used for the Phase 3's (September 2003 on).

Another example of continental markets getting the best things first.

Given they seem to consist of colours and optional extras I wonder if those 'limited editions' were the idea of dealers or the importer rather than Alfa themselves? I can't say Cup style front vents do much for me. The lack of number plates in the images reminded me of the double page adverts for the Fiat Coupe that didn't have a number plate obscuring those vents in the front bumper.

Why pay over odds for a lhd car ? The engine isnt related to the Dino it was.made.for by Alfa for Alfa the guy who designed it did design some Ferrari road and f1 engines.

From the corrosion on the engine.i would.want it.up.on a ramp and.give the.car.a good looking over. It looks.like.it had been stored.just doesn't.look like its.been.loved

There was threead on this car on PH a few years back. Looks like its been stored a while, probably needs a complete overhaul.

I'm not knocking them but why do people think that a TB is such a good idea?It was a compromise built only to get around Italian tax threshold. Surely a 3.0 is a much better bet given that it is the "same" engine but without all the extra turbo gubbins (weight, complexity) added and is much more readily available.

You'd think so but the TB goes very well. The torque is stronger lower down the rev range and the delivery is virtually turbo lag free. The 5 speed box has perfect ratios for the job. Ultimately the 24v is faster but through the gears if not careful a TB will see off a 24v.

There was a limited production TB 'Corse' for the Japanese market rated at 235bhp. The engine is easily tunable from 202bhp to 230+ and in this guise, with the low down torque and gearing, will easily see off a 24v at any time you care to mention.

Built as a compromise? Isn't this the essence of Alfa Romeo since 1986?:lol:
