I was travelling about 20 mph round a corner, skidded on some ice and hit the curb quite hard. My front allow had a large section snap off and my tyre was flat. I am not sure if my back ofside wheel hit the curb, but there didn't appear to be any damage (but i don't really no what im looking for)

After fitting the space saver to get it safely back home, I order the same 15 inch elegance alloy for my 147. After installing this myself i noticed a 'wub wub wubwubwbub' sound and a bit of vibration under the passenger side footwell. The noise gets more frequent as i get faster.

So I took it in for an MOT and they changed the drivers side tyre (low tread) and the nearside upper suspension arm rubber bushes. The Vibration seems to have been tamed, but it doesn't feel normal and the wub wub wubwub noise/sensation is still noticeable. The Steering pulls slightly to the left but there is no judder in the steering wheel at high speeds (which i think would indicate a wheel balance).

Any ideas what the problem could be?
And why this wasn't diagnosed on my MOT, They obviously checked the area if they failed me on the suspension bushes.
Would a wheel alignment and balance fix my problems?

I have already spent £300 on trying to fix this and the car is not worth much now (2004 147 lusso)

Thanks

I haven't checked lower arms no, I am assuming these things would have been checked when i passed my MOT? As at first they failed it on upper suspension arm rubber bushes.

I have enquired about a wheel tracking but don't want to pay £65 ive been quoted for that and balancing to find out it doesn't fix the problem. I have little faith in mechanics as i know nothing about cars and always feel they are ripping me off. I know this won't be the case with them all but i was expecting it to function as it did before after it passed MOT. I've seen horror stories on watchdog programs that put the doubts in my mind every time.

North east, near durham.

Nearest garage to me is a mr clutch but i hear bad things about them and franchises in general. Just check Halfords website and they do an alignment for £30. Would they diagnosis any bent components while determining if i need an alignement?

thanks for your help.

Just an update for anyone with similar problems...

I've been told 'there are no obvious problems' but it may be the noise of a failing wheel bearing.

It should be ready for pickup later today but after another £145 for this i still may have a problem!!

Really annoying and think later this afternoon i may be making a decision whether its worth throwing more money at the alfa or get another one.
