I've been suffering from noisy windscreen wipers on my 159 pretty much since I got it (new) putting it down to an Alfa quirk... They basically made a kind of horrible rubbery grinding noise if it the rain wasn't pelting down....Anyway, was on the site the other day and noticed a thread about juddering wipers from someone else.. Cure was either clean screen with something magical or buy new blades. Ended up seeing these Twin Pack ALFA ROMEO 159 2005+ AERO Flat Wiper Blades 22-18: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike which arrived today and changed my life!!! Silky smooth, silent wipers, perfect zero smear ..... Why oh why didn't I spend the princely sum of £7.59 to make my Alfa soooooo much nicer to be in! (my 12 year old daughter can't believe I am making such a fuss about something so pathetic!)
The odd part is that the passenger side is perfect.
I still think it has something to do with the pressure the arm is putting on the screen/wiper. Will try to bend the arm again, before spending a small fortune on the other ones.........
Mine have been on a week and it's been ****ing down and guess what, still good as new and I purchased 2 pair. Will be happy if they last a year for that price.
Just got back from South Wales, chucked it sown most of the way there and the way back.
The line across my sight is now a 3" smudge. Actually dangerous now, ordering a set of Bosch ones today.
Worth a try at the price, but won't be buying a second pair!

Give it a good bend the other way, centred around the dodgy bit, to try and flatten that spot a bit so it sits down better on the windscreen - I don't see that there's much else you can do.
Could you elaborate here - did i need to remove the blade from the arm and bend the ends outwards thus forcing the centre part of the blade to sit closer to the glass ?
The cheaper ones are off and in the boot, a set of Bosch are on, light and day in the water clearing. Got the Bosch ones from fleabay for £19.50 delivered. Will see how long these last, hopefully the same as the previous 159 when I tried a cheap pair (they lasted a day!) and then bought the Bosch, they were still on the car 15K miles later. I see a pattern developing here.....
I just changed some rubbish cheapies (kept them for two weeks, worst purchase ever although not the ones mentioned here) for some champion ones. they are ugly, but brilliant!! silent and smear free for £20.....
Guys, tbh these were so cheap it was worth the gamble and that's why I got 2 pairs just in case they did go wrong within a month, you boys must have got a bad batch as mine have been perfect, maybe the second pair will be bad but at the mo I can't complain.
89 posts about cheap wiper blades. This makes all the talk about EGR/DPF matters seem quite interesting
