Hi my bonnet light is on, although it is shut properly. I have recently had a new bonnet fitted, does anyone knows how i can adjust this so it knows it is shut properly?
Mine did this too after I had the engine steam cleaned. Think moisture annoyed the sensor, which resides in the passenger side recess that the bonnet pin inserts into. Looks virtually impossible to access and I just left it to see if it would heal itself with some kind words. It just gave up completely in the end, which doesn't bother me as when it thought it was open the whole time, the alarm kept screaming.
Try spraying WD40 in there and working the microswitch back and forth - might find some disturbed crud is interrupting normal operation.
Hi, the alarm on my gtv has been going off sporadically. i noticed this coincided with the bonnet sensor light coming on, again sporadically. Presumably due to the heavy rain recently. Having read the above does anyone have any ideas about how to silence the alarm for the next few days until i can get to look at properly? I can't lock the car without the alarm automatically coming on after a few seconds.
disconnect the bonnet sensor that indicates the bonnet is open, it should be just under the slam panel on the right side i believe as you look from front ..... although it could be the left side too.
I believe easiest access to replace the switch is by taking out the headlight. It's common that the bonnet light shows after a lot of rain. Doesn't activate the alarm on mine but prevents me from arming it. I just wait for it to dry out.
My light came on this winter - they are effected by rain. I tried Wd40 and wiggling it and the light stayed on. I just got my mechanic to take the sensor out -r emove headlamp and bobs your uncle the light went out and the alarm didn't go off . New sensor is about £35 + VAT from dealer but as yet I haven't bothered. Just make sure and doubly sure your bonnets shut before driving off!
Dont go to dealer - you can pretty much get exactly the same switch from Maplin for about 3 quid
