Just checked my rear tyres the other day and they are down to the wire on the insides? They are decent make tyres and have plenty of tread on the outsides and centre. If I look at the wheels from the rear then they look to be on a slight angle.
Questions - is this something easily fixed?
- If I was to get a whole new set of tyres and alloys would this cure the problem?
As above, first check for play in lower transverse arm bushes. If they are OK, have the tracking done. If not, replace them and have the tracking done after.
hub bushes are often not checked ...these can often wreck tyres after an alignment or in poor cases not allow adjustment to spec
you said in your first post both tyres and your last post ya state you put on your spare meaning one could be camber issue one side
prob was on both side but a lot worse on the left, if camber was wrong one side could it cause problem to the other side as it tries to compensate?
I have just looked in the work shop part of this site and seen the following, seems to same as what you are suggesting
'the rear suspension rear arm bushes (Rear Radius Arm Replacement Guide) wear as do the bushes in the rear hub, again these are not expensive the bush costs £5 and the arm costs £27 there will often be uneven tyre wear associated with worn suspension bushes and this is usually on the inner edge of the tyre.'
I would put money on it being bushes as well, most likely on the rods that connect behind the sill to the hub as these control the toe of the rear wheels.
Does the car step out at the rear if you hit a bump mid corner?
