Just got my car at a garage (mot) tyres are shot. They are saying the rear wheel tracking bolts are standard bolts and they cannot adjust the camber or tracking in the rear. Is this normal?

Comments and help please guys as need new tyres and don't know what to do. :(

They talking rubbish? Taken it to ATS in Horsham,
They are currently saying it cannot be adjusted due to wrong bolts.
Anyone got a photo of the area I can compare when I go to pick it up please? They are leaving it on the ramp for me

Brilliant! Thanks guys, this forum is superb. I'm guessing power flexing the rear may help with camber issues. It is negative and I've heard they are quite aggressive camber on spiders anyways? I am walking there now. Will be amusing to hear their comments.

Sorry, only just logged on, you've probably got there by now?

Here's some really good pictures I'd not seen until recently, lifted from Squadra 916...thanks Charlee:) + 1 of my own when measuring for bumpstops.

Maybe you'll pick this up on your 'Smart Phone'?

The adjusting rod is the red one far right with the 2 silver hex adjusters in the 1st picture, they're normally seized so wheel off etc.

You may be surprised to hear that my local Alfa dealer couldn't do the rear tracking on my Spider and had to get a "specialist" in! They could do the front tracking however?????

They did me an excellent deal on a cambelt change however which is the only reason I ended up there in the first place.

Similar scene at my wheel alignment - technician said "can't adjust, the bolts are not eccentrically-mounted (like they would be on 156)". I said, there's a tie-rod up there in front of the wheel, you can see it from this other angle... and he said "oh... FUN!"

As already said, it's only the toe that really matters. The camber just gives stability and cool looks (makes a mockery of the brochures claims "new suspension to keep wheels perfectly flush with the lines of the car")...

Thanks guys,
Very much appreciated.

Yup he hadnt done one before, I had to show him where the rod was.

Only failed on my missing cat and 4 tyres.

I am now shopping around for tyres and tracking. Will put the cat back on this weekend.

Glad to hear all is normal on my car.

Don't know where you are in West Sussex but I just got 2 Falken ZE912's fitted to the front for £180 all in. Tracking and wheel aligning was another £40 - was at Protyres in Portsmouth, very good service. They guy says they get alot of main dealers coming to them to do laser aligning - even the local Land Rover dealership. Apparently 4x4's are a nightmare to align.
