Not a specific Brera problem or even an Alfa one but as those four chrome trimmed tail-pipes are so prominent on the Brera - how the hell do you remove the sooty deposit that builds up around the lip of the pipes. I know the secret is probably to clean it off very regularly before it gets a hold but I didn't and now it seems to be immovable. I've tried metal polish, thinners, oven cleaner (the last two with obvious precautions to protect the paintwork) but nothing seems to touch it. Has anyone got any suggestions?
I know i am a bit late to jump on this thread, but i had the same problem with stubborn black stuff on my exhaust and never cleaned them. I had the day off work and set about cleaning them. I used several different types of wire wool (ranging from course to fine) with a mixture of alloy wheel cleaner and autosol. All i can say is i can literally see my face in the tail pipes now. Unbelievable how clean they have become. I wish i took a before/after pic now.....
Use wet/dry emery paper with soapy water, then polish with autosol, you won't damage them as they are stainless steel.
