Damn fine car,tinted windows,black 01...... shiny,well looked after...Id say that drinks some amount of juice
A friend of mine has one... It's just a Fantastic car
He says it's nearly impossible to get lower than 10L/100km fuel consumption... normal is 15-17L/100!!!!
Oh.. it's also has the Sportronic gearbox... so she's really thirsty

The 166 is a great looking car except for the bonnet - it's too long or something with that small grill. Rest of the car is beautiful - especially with the body kit, 17" alloys and 6 speed box.
Plenty of the 3ltr for sale here except they all have the dreadful 4 speed auto. Dark red, black or dark blue look really nice - test drove one but just couldn't enjoy that auto box.
On my way home at lunchtime doing 90ish when from nowhere comes a pearlesant white 147 GTA,it flashes me I moved over and it was gone like the wind ,Can I have one Please!!!!!!!!
Its good seeing the other 2.0 ts boys out and about, with a chip and exhaust and a few more bits and bobs you should see their faces when an 'old' 146 blasts past them. The 156 and 147 seem to weigh more too, doesnt help them...
I get 27 mpg in normal day to day driving, but just got 30mpg on a 200 mile 90mph run with air-con on econ setting.
Recently got 28mpg running at 100 on cruise control for 190 miles with full auto climate control. Not too bad.
Of course, when you get less than 20mpg on town running, you need a motorway blast to balance things up.
I love the way that at 100 in 4th, the car comes really alive
Driving back home last night in the rain on the N11, I stopped at a red traffic light and to my amazement, two cars broke the lights without a whim... A 318i and an audi A3 with a neat body-kit... I was a bit !!!!ed off, they shouldn't be doing that, so I decided to give them a blast of the Alfa roar in under-taking... :tut:
Tore away from the lights with limited wheelspin, into second with foot planted, and passed the A3 wheelspinning the whole way up the road!
I couldn't believe the amount of spin... unreal... I was getting grip, and the tyres seems to be working OK...

Great feeing![/QUOTE]
ah,whipping audi boys,bet he was sick as the proverbial parrot !!! :lol:
Was really annoyed the other day, had to let a 316 compact go by without taking it to school, had someone in the car with me so I couldn't act the hooligan.
i have to say i own a alfa 146 1.8i t.spark and i had 2 people in including me ( driver ) and i was behined this bmw it wanted a go so his foot went down and so did mine but do you want to know what bmw it was , it was a brand new 540i v8 tdi and i keep with it up to 120mph when i hit 130mph he had moved a little bit away the left me so he hit a good 140 mph , but i have to say i only have a 1.8 so good go on alfa .....lol but did that bmw go....wow.
I've had many people away!
Town driving is the best. Take advantage of the Alfa's torqueyness and leave it in second when third is required, a little fuel consuming but great for a blast from low speeds, the BMW boys hate it!
That's not taking advantage of it's torqueyness, that's taking advantage of it's free-revving nature.
As standard the 2.0 TS is a bit lacking in torque, which is why it can be a bit sluggish from very low revs, and why it's better to keep them high by using 2nd instead of 3rd.
It really does move at high revs though

no such car - ummm there is as my boss has one , it has the fin on top 540 that using a 4.3l v8 tdi so why say no such car????plus next to my grandads they have one in silvier!!!
@alfa_146_etc.
I realize you're a youngster, and you're probably used to text messaging and chat grammar and stylings, but in a forum like this your postings are hard to read. Could you please include a little more punctuation and a few more capital letters at the start of complete thoughts?
I realize this may seem like a really picky request, but if I'm having trouble making sense of your posts, and I have a fairly good grasp of the English language, can you imagine the difficulties our non-native English speaking members are having?
This is an international forum with members from all continents of the world (except Antarctica, as far as I know ) so there are lots of people here who use English as their second or third or fourth language, and I figure that if they have taken the time to learn our lingo, we should repect them by communicating using the accepted rules.
@HowardA
I think you mean in British figures, not in English figures.
If I have done my math correctly, (and that's always a big if ) the figures in question look something like this:
10L/100km converts to 23.52 (U.S) mpg or 19.58 (Imperial) mpg
16L/100 km (average) converts to 14.7 (U.S.) mpg or 12.24 (Imperial) mpg

The current 5 series is not available as 540 but as a 545i. And it isn't a diesel either but a petrol engine. And the letter combination tdi is indeed used on German diesel cars but not by BMW. So it is kind of weird you actually know two people who have a 540 v8 tdi.
BTW your English is harder to read then Hugo's English and he is not even from the UK.
I suppose you want us young people to write IN BIG LETTERS NEXT SO YOU'LL BE ABLE TO READ THEM! :lol:
:cheese:
