hi everyone. I've cracked the sump on my 1.6 litre 147, but its the extra bit at the back of the sump that looks like the cover should just unbolt and come off without removing the whole sump. does anyone know what this extra bit of sump is for and is it easily removed?

Its to increase oil capacity and aid cooling as it has fins all over the bottom of it. Faits with the same engine don't have this. You can't get separate bits but I know a new sump costs about 150 quid. had to put one on my 155 ts.

blimey, thats news to me. The sump was through an indi mind, but was genuine stock. The whole thing is a bit weak so its hard to say but you'll probably be ok. Probably have to be very unlucky

to weld it you have to take it off (not too easy) and clean it then weld , if it is warped you get oil leakage you won't believe
install a new one !!!

Have you tried a breaker?
Autolusso will have them I would have thought. Douglas Valley breakers definitely have a 1.6 147 in at the moment (if not two), Lancsbreaker usually has lots of stock bits.
There's plenty of second hand parts suppliers/dismantlers around - do a forum search.
