evening all, quick question. During driving my gear stick seems to move alot, when im on the throttle the gear stick jumps forward probaly and inch, if i come off the throttle the it moves back the same distance. i've been told that my rear engine mount is fine and my front seems ok on quick inspection. any ideas would be good pls, it's been like it for some time now, but it's really starting to get on my ****.
Am I right in thinking that your car is a Phase 1 V6 with (early) 5-speed gearbox?
If the gearlever moves back and forth even when you come on and off the throttle fairly gently, this could be an indication of problems inside the gearbox itself.
As Clive said above, also check the top engine stabilser.
I had the same problem with a 145 cloverleaf. It was the nut on the end of the gear shaft that came loose. I took the end of the gearbox off (in place) and removed the nut & retightened it with a little loctite.
