Remote locking failure - both keys!

On Monday this week my remote alarm/central locking stopped working. No problem I thought, it must need a new battery. New battery fitted - still no joy. Must be the key then. Tried the spare - which had been used by my wife on Friday - still nothing.

I have tried all of the suggested fixes - disconnecting the car battery, turning the key to MAV etc but still nothing. The central locking still works manually but the alarm does not come on (thankfully).

Any suggestions what to try next?

I will try to access the alarm unit itself to check for a bad connection at the weekend - anyone know if it is fused?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I did suggest that he bought a Toyota for therapy!

Meanwhile, anyone got any ideas about the alarm fault?

I had a problem with my speedo not working on my 156. Someone told me to check the earth leads from the ending to the body and the battery to the body as this can cause electrictal problems. I found my fault at the battery.

I know it is a long shot, but its worth checking.
