OK, I'm looking to remove the starter motor. I think the bendix is staying engaged for a second or so after start. If anyone has got any info, pics or advice I would be grateful.
Hi. I've just just put my car in for next week to have the starter motor replaced as it was making a horrible noise on start up, is this the same for you?
I original thought it was the variator but the mechanic was 100% sure it is the starter motor.
Sorry haven't answeared your question and asked you a question instead.
No it sounds like a scrapping, scratching noise if that makes any sense, cant really describe it, its a horrible sound and a bit embarasing when i start it up in a public place. The noise only lasts a couple of seconds on initial startup, its worst on a cold start. What you thinking?
Mine sounded like a metallic rattling/bolts in a can type noise and lasted for a few seconds usually when cold. I ruled out the variator as it did it before I had the cambelt and variator changed.
Just had my 147 starter moter changed today its sounds perfect now, they took it out for a test drive, just a few more small jobs to get done, but that will have to wait till next month.
