Hello, im new here, and im searching for help.
I have a 1.8T.S 156 , and the bottom of the engine is making sound , i think that i need to change the part that is located between the cankshaft and the pistons (you must know, when its broken you can find metal glow in oil) , and the top part needs new camshafts.
So my question is- i got a offer from a 95 year 2.0T.S GTV engine that has the cilinder head like this http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/images/72-0-800.jpg the aliuminium cover , he offers me the camshafts , as my car is 1.8 and year 98 it has plastic cover like this http://www.autodeltashop.com/images/en_155.jpg
SO: Does 2.0 aliuminium cover camshafts fit the 1.8 plastic covered head?
Soon ill upload a video how my alfa works, damn it sounds terrible :(
Thank you.

It's very likely that your engine's crankshaft and conrod will be wrecked due to the big-end bearing breaking down.

You could take the crankshaft and conrods from the donor engine as well as the camshafts (which will fit ok).

It might be easier to swap the whole engine though, and fit any sensors from your one to the older one to suit the wiring loom...

iainfm , how to remove the engine head? i heard there are some wicked bolts behind the intake manufault? i want to take it appart as in your pictures.. took of exaust bolts, 1 of ~5 broke :D and the intake i wanna disconnect it in the middle.. so that i dont need to remove the part where it connects to the head..... i found about 8 bolts in the head itself that holds it, what else do i need to remove? picture and circles where it is would be nice :)
Thank you :) tommorow i wanna remove the head, so hope some one replyes me today.. after 2-4 h ill post pics what ive done today, so stay tuned:)

Not on either, I'm afraid. Send me a private message any time though. I'll send you my email address too.

It's looking good. Are you going to change the damaged piston (picture 19)? I would. Are they all numbered 652? I'll see if i have any spare. They all look marked, to be honest (pic 28 etc).

The close-up one looks damaged too - like it's hit the valves in the past. If so, the big-end damage was probably caused by the same cambelt snap. Change the cam idler and tensioner (for a metal one) when you put it back together too

It looks like the exhaust valve in picture 22 hasn't been seating right either. It may be bent...

Good luck with it :)

Edit: The marked pistons should be ok to put back (unless you find a good set to replace them with). I'd change the one with the chip in it though. Has it scored the bore at all?
