Hello, im new here, and im searching for help.
I have a 1.8T.S 156 , and the bottom of the engine is making sound , i think that i need to change the part that is located between the cankshaft and the pistons (you must know, when its broken you can find metal glow in oil) , and the top part needs new camshafts.
So my question is- i got a offer from a 95 year 2.0T.S GTV engine that has the cilinder head like this http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/images/72-0-800.jpg the aliuminium cover , he offers me the camshafts , as my car is 1.8 and year 98 it has plastic cover like this http://www.autodeltashop.com/images/en_155.jpg
SO: Does 2.0 aliuminium cover camshafts fit the 1.8 plastic covered head?
Soon ill upload a video how my alfa works, damn it sounds terrible
Thank you.
If you're good with engines, it can be rebuilt (replace crankshaft/conrod/bearings and all gaskets etc). If you can find a replacement engine, it will be easier.
damn, great job... tommorow if i have time ill try removing the head and taking pics ... if i was in uk , idd take my car to you for repairs couse in lithuania a good alfa mechanic is hard to find....
Please post more comments, as i am in need for them!
The smoke on the end of the video- water on the radiator, since i was washing my car..... the only thing i could do with a broken alfa is to wash it... dont know why... but wash it anyway
I'd start by taking the sump off and see how bad the bearings/crankshaft are. If the crankshaft is scored, it (or the engine) will need to be replaced with a good one. If it's ok, changing the bearings can be done with the engine in.
I'm available for hire. For the right price!
ill c my self.. cant say if its damadged from the video........... today i think ill be taking things out so we will see . Thanks iainfm for the pics, they will help with taking out the manufaults today im planing to take the head out.....
iainfm , how to remove the engine head? i heard there are some wicked bolts behind the intake manufault? i want to take it appart as in your pictures.. took of exaust bolts, 1 of ~5 broke and the intake i wanna disconnect it in the middle.. so that i dont need to remove the part where it connects to the head..... i found about 8 bolts in the head itself that holds it, what else do i need to remove? picture and circles where it is would be nice
Thank you tommorow i wanna remove the head, so hope some one replyes me today.. after 2-4 h ill post pics what ive done today, so stay tuned

waiting for comments about it, and questions that i asked at the link page.
Thank you again
Not on either, I'm afraid. Send me a private message any time though. I'll send you my email address too.
It's looking good. Are you going to change the damaged piston (picture 19)? I would. Are they all numbered 652? I'll see if i have any spare. They all look marked, to be honest (pic 28 etc).
The close-up one looks damaged too - like it's hit the valves in the past. If so, the big-end damage was probably caused by the same cambelt snap. Change the cam idler and tensioner (for a metal one) when you put it back together too
It looks like the exhaust valve in picture 22 hasn't been seating right either. It may be bent...
Good luck with it
Edit: The marked pistons should be ok to put back (unless you find a good set to replace them with). I'd change the one with the chip in it though. Has it scored the bore at all?
they are marked 652 and 651 as i saw...i dont know what to do with the 19 , does it need to be changed? the close up damage could be removed with some sangind paper.. i think... it will cause no harm?
as i understood 2 of them are 652 and 2 are 651 ? but i think delivering from uk will cost alot, + prices there are rather high, arent they? how much does a 1.8 cost in uk?
well i would need it... if i was from uk... but part + delivery will cost me ~50-100 pounds, i bet i could get a new one here after 2 days i think ill see hows the bottom part.. .. pray that its good
