Diesel GT Recommendations

I have persuaded my Dad that a GT is the car for him with a £5000 - £6000 budget. The only must is that it has to be a diesel so he can use his company card to fill up….. Naughty boy :tut:

Any recommendations on what he could get in that price range would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for those links, two solid motors there. As he doesn't really have to worry about fuel economy, I was thinking more about the 2.4 for him, so he can zoom up to the Golf club  The M-jet does get my attention there though with 150 bhp.

The 2.4 JTD was in the 156 and 159, you won't find ant 147s/ GTs.

The engines will keep on trucking for ever as long as you look after it, it's things like clutch and suspension bushes that could be on their way out at higher miles but they'll be easy to spot on a test drive if they're shot.

Full service history, make sure the water pump was changed with the cambelt at 72k miles or below and you can't go far wrong.

There was a few GT's around his budget at Benfield Alfa in Newcastle last time I looked. I'm probably best off taking my Dad there to have a look at them and maybe have a test drive, as he will be buying a high mileage GT thus more at risk to the problems you mentioned.
