ok so i just picked up my very first alfa, which happens to be a 147 lusso 2 litre with all the gadgets. Tis the best car ive ever driven and am well happy with it (so far). just a few things that have come up with it tho.
Yesterday as i was driving after about 10 mins i had a vdc system failure warning come up on the screen and the traction control wouldnt switch on. After i stopped and turned engine off and back on again the warning went away and traction control worked again. Should i worry? and also same happened with but this time a motor control system failure warning appeared. once again switched off and on and everything fine.. is this something to worry about or is this just a case of alfaitis and everything will be ok?
Hi
First of all welcome, I used get them messages all the time after a bit you learn to ignore them, But for the last two weeks ive had nothing so fingers cross all good. after all it is a alfa lol
ok cheers. if i get a new battery , and therefore disconnecting the battery, do i need to enter the radio code in the conect system. i do not have the code, i suppose an alfa specialist can give it to me???????
some dont need the code as the radio recognises other systems in the car. but check first. if the worst happens a auto electricain will be able to decode it and give you a new one
Hi I used to get exactly the same on mine. I left it for about 2 years & it got progressively more requent to the point that the warning came up every time I drove it. I took it to my local garage where they diagnosed a faulty brake light switch. Had this changed at very low cost & it's been fine ever since!
The brake light switch cured the ABS & VDC warnings. Motor control system failure was also cured at the same time by replacing the crankshaft sensor. Both jobs cost less than £ 100
The motor control system failure got progressively worse before replacing the sensor to the point that every now & again the car wouldn't start. This usually happened when it was most inconvenient!
cheers everyone. looks like this is quite a common thing. getting a new battery soon but i cant get the head unit out. the face came off and all the buttons fell out.... oops oh well its all back in now and workin so ill risk changing the battery and hope that i wont need the code to get the radio to work again.
I shall report back with whether or not it has fixed anythin. i also get various light failure warnings also but then i try my lights and everythin is fine. hopefully the battery!!
My radio never needs recoding after disconnecting the battery. Like someone said earlier I think the radio knows when its home presumably something to do with the canbus connections??
ok cool cheers. just wanted to be on the safe side just incase but ye i didnt think i would need one.
