That picture explains why I think the red carpet is a bad idea! Looks very scruffy. I reckon the red leather with black carpet and mats is much better.
Incidentally, that is the pre-FL steering wheel. There was an optional black & silver wheel with buttons on the FL. The same, limited functionality I think, though.
That's not a good enough reason to buy a Laguna, though . You can do the same with the cruise control knob on the 166 anyway! On most decent execs now, you can control a whole host of things apart from cruise control from the wheel or, better still, using voice commands.
Speaking of cruise control, does anyone else on here use the +/- switch on the cruise control to drive the car on the motorway? I use it all the time to slow and speed up. Its a really relaxed drive, knowing that you still have the brake pedal for sudden stops.
Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Of course, on a new car I'd expect active radar cruise which does the same thing automatically and brakes if you forget, too .
Yeah, pre-fl stereo controls. My fl had the controls on wheel - volume up/down, mute, cd up-down/radio station up-down and button to change between radio-tape-cd. Pretty good and up there with most modern cars now.
I have sat nav and phone, but no stereo controls. I asked my friendly local Alfa dealer about how much would it cost to retrofit it (I loved them on the Focus), but I don't want to repeat what they said...
MLC, I would suggest not to slow down using the cruise control, because the car behind you won't expect that and suddenly will be too close to your rear bumper.....
Guys, you're supposed to use your feet for driving your Alfa and your hands for [ your girl sitting next to you] and not to fumble with buttons.....................................
although your button-fumbling-skills might come handy......
