I am trying to replace my down pipe on my 146 because of a hole in it. Everything is loose and ready to drop out but I can not undo the lambda sensor, I've coated it with WD40 and tried to the point where I think i'm gonna bust it but no go.
It's not welded or anything is it, I assume it is actually removeable isn't it?
Any tips and advice on getting it out would be very welcome, my cars on axle stands till the jobs done.
Some recommend taking them out hot, others cold. Some come with grease packed threads, with extra tiny glass spheres mixed in with the grease, to avoid seizure. Try heating the threaded collar as bobda said, but you'll need a good heat source, preferably oxy/acetylene, although, butane or propane may do.:
Thanks guys, I was about to heat the lambda with a paint stripping gun but borrowed a bigger wrench first which done the job.
Still gotta get a new downpipe, the one I bought has had some welding done round the rear flange leaving it twisted by 10mm at the manifold - by 2 inches at the rear meaning at the back box the box rubber bung holder is stuck above the body fixed holder.
