I have a 147 & it only comes with 2 keys, I assume the 156 would be the same, there is a section in the manual that mentions UK insurance companies have asked manufacturers not to supply code info to owners, everwhere else in world they come with a code card

2 problems ?
The guy selling the car has 2 keys only. Does 156 have the same "Red Code Key" as 145/146 for key programing / ECU programing?

He hasn,t got the Code Card for emergency starting etc. Can this be got from Alfa Rome with Chassis no and V5.
Urgent help needed and many thanks
Folgore</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As 147 says this feature is not available on UK 156's as the insurance companys wont let alfa ship it incase you leave your card in the car and a pikey nicks it naughty naughty naughty
I've checked the key issue with an Alfa dealer, you only get 2 keys (which are bright red on the pre 2001 cars, and black with flick out keys on the post 2001 cars.)
I DID get a code card with my new 156 in January 2001, but I imported it from an Alfa dealer in Dublin. He confirmed that UK models don't get this issued because of the insurance company insistance mentioned above.....
Funny that, mine was supposed to be a UK sourced car but mine DID come with a white card with a funny tab on it with a Serial number and a code. It has the words 'leave this card in a safe place, not in the car'. Something like that anyway.
Chappy
It is an Alfa UK decision not to allocate the code cards to owners. They obviously think its better for them to lose them, rather than us!!
As your car didn't come through Alfa UK, it won't have gone through their delivery procedure. Personally I think YOU are better having the Code card, but do keep it safe!!
eek!

Maybe thats for something else though?</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Doesn't that sound a bit like the code card for the blaupunkt, maybe?
Yup, on my 147 (with Bose) there is a code card for the stereo. If it's been without power for 30 minutes or something you need to input the code for it to work again...
Maybe you are right Dude maybe it's for the stereo. it certainbly doesnt look like the picture of the card in the Alfa care book. WHihc has red writing and two numbers.
They don't come with a third key, but if you ask a dealer they will provide you with a small grey and red card which gives you the emergency start number. Costs about £15
Chappy Alfa and Fiat no longer issue the cards with the cars they go straight to the International Securities Register as millions of owners lost them or had them stolen. The book hasn't been changed to reflect that!
Ah, thanks Trudy, that makes sense as I have details on the ISR in my pack.
No mention of Blaupunkt on the card but I'm pretty sure thats what it must be for. Maybe cause I have the Connect Nav + system I dont have the High 937 stereo or at least not with the same facia.

Who do Alfa UK think they are charging £15 for it? frown

Quite right Mav,Why should we be inconvienced AND have to stump up just `cause some people are daft enough to leave details in car. They mayaswell put a sign on window saying "keys in ignition, please don`t damage interior or dash, just steal intact"
