Rang up Mangoletsi today to book my car in for its first service.
Was told as my car has only 4700 miles on the clock the car only needs the safety inspection service and NOT an oil service.
Will take 1 hour and cost £90-00 plus VAT.

Isthe difference in service schedule due to fleet/private ownership?

I'm sure I read somewhere that manufacturers increased the time between services for fleets to be competitive, but kept yearly for private buyers, for the record my FAC car is definately not due a 12 month service.

So your point is people who buy new cars deserve to be ripped off,
is that it?

How about the new car owners stop doing "extra" oil changes
and the second hand owners can pick up the tab for any problems
that my occur further down the road. :p

Cannavar - What mileage you done? Check your service and warranty booklet (the one you get stamped) as it has a list of service schedules - Pages 25 to 28.

I would get it done - Mine has been serviced in first and second years (13031 miles and 31445 miles), I would not have been so happy in my purchase if first one skipped. Small price to pay for peace of mind and to take care of your expensive vehicle!

Really don't understand Alfa's approach to the service intervals for the 159. First it was 20,000 odd miles and now it's 12,000 miles? Does this all sound familiar? ie changing cambelt intervals on the earlier TS/JTS models from 72,000 to 36,000 miles? So the bravado of extended service intervals to attract customers soon collapses as engines/components fail due to the over-ambitious service intervals?

Totally crazy:rolleyes:
