5 small things i like about my 159 and 5 small things that get on my nerves a bit, its first time ive had an Alfa so if these things are old hat please forgive me:

Likes:

1, the head lights go off when i switch the engine off.
2, Unlike clarkson i think the cruise control is easy to use and well placed
3, the hydraulic stands for the bonnet
4, Unlike clarkson (again!) i like the button in the centre ceiling console for opening the boot
5, the cool red light up in darkness of the drivers gauges...

Dislikes:

1, Ive turned my lights off unintentionally whilst driving at night half a dozen times by catching the light switch when meaning to catch the indicator
2, The loud noise the alarm makes when setting and unsetting
3, Only 1 space for a small drink, cramped glove comparment (good for a pair of gloves!)
4, erm....
5, erm ....

Likes:

1 Fabulous looks, feelgood factor is enormous and seems nearly as good as owning a Quattroporte
2 18'' horseshoes look good, and firm but comfortable ride is superb.
3 General finish and build quality (doors clunk shut, very few rattles)
4 Seats are just fantastic, leather gorgeous, comfortable, supportive.
5 Alfa DNA still shines through

Dislikes:
1 Sluggish 2.4JTD at low revs
2 Very disappointing economy
3 Notchy gearbox on first three gears
4 Crappy day/month announcement between speedo and rev counter
5 Distortion on and between rear mirrors

Bought it new on 31st May 07, cured windscreen creak (temporary?)with silicone lube but theres still a buzzing noise from passenger side of dash and a "plasticky" rattle from front roof light amongst other interior noises. Nothing major and they only bother me a bit, overall I am very very happy with car, in particular, with the 2.2 jts which i feel is a gem of an engine.

Parked my car off the street to see the doctor the other day, came back after seeing the doctor and my front bumper is both dented and scratched. Worst and most expensive doctor’s appointment ever  Sent my car to the body shop yesterday, now driving an uninteresting Toyota ~ :(

Hi there I'm back!!!

Top 5 'likes' (in no particular order)

1. Engine note - great 4 cylinder rasp at high rpm
2. That front end:cool:
3. The fact that it is as much of a head-turner as any car I've ever owned
4. The surprisingly low purchase price
5. The fact that this is still a real family car (I have two very young daughters) and can still carry them and their stuff with room to spare

Now the 'dislikes'...

1. The dreaded screen rattle - sounds to me like a marble on a short piece of string rattling away under the front passenger side of the dash; dealer hasn't got a clue how to rectify this
2. The wheelarch gap - I think mine needs to drop about 2" to look right on the 17" multi-spokes...
3. Cleaning the 17" multispokes
4. Parking sensors - not so much one of mine by my poor better half keeps hitting things on the side of the car as there are no sensors there, are there dear!
5. The ability to get the fuel economy into single figures  when performing #1 of the 'likes' above!

Great car otherwise - very reliable in the grand scheme of things, just lots of daft niggles I suppose.

Now that DPF sorted......
LIKES
Just everything :)
DISLIKES:
1.Anal wingers
2.People that want to eat in my Lusso - try a cafe/restaurant/home cooking
3.People that want to drink in my Lusso - try pub/cafe/home fridge
4. People that want to load their entire life posessions into the glovebox HEY....it's a Glove Box...stick your gloves in there and shut up !

silicone spray under the black rubber seal on the outside of the windscreen. It works! No more annoying constant creaking! Use credit card or similar or slightly easier but be more careful - a sharp knife just to tease the rubber up every 6 inches or so. Go on, try it!

Dislikes: 2.4 SW 159

1.Consumption (Averaging 31mpg being careful!!!!!!!!)
2.lack of cup holders (where do u expect me to put my MacDonald's drinks!)
3.Dashboard menu defaults to showing u which Radio channel or CD is in!! Aarrggghhh! I can hear whats on or look at the damn radio! I always have to change it to the average and current fuel consumption. Can this be re-programmed????
4.Suspension needs to be stiffer. A bit too much 'roll'.
5.The damn auto wipers! Aarrrggghhh (again). They either don't move or go at a hundred miles an hour!!!!
6.Similarly, the Climate Control/air conditioning has a bloody mind of its own. Constantly coming on with extra turbo just to p_ _ s me off!

Likes:

1. The styling and Passion
2. The Bose is well worth the extra cost. Awesome!
3. The red lighting from the 'cockpit' at night. Beautiful.
4. The 210 horses!!
5. Did I mention the styling and passion!??!

RE. the radio chanel on the dash display, just go into the main menu of the indicator stalk and turn radio repeat off;)

yes thanks but this only now shows the date all the time. ...still have to switch to current and averg. mpg every single time i sit in my 'office'. i remember my dealer telling me he would/could programme my wing mirrors to both automatically close when turning off engine and n/s mirror to dip when selecting reverse, so will ask him about this too. (like the look of two Alfa's...trying to get my other half to do the same! 2nd hand GT 1.9 up 4 grabs so will push for that!)
ta, juventino.

Great thread:thumbs:

Likes:

- Power/torque - being able to stick your foot down, safe in the knowledge something will happen
- Looks on other drivers faces - a) at the stunning looks b) when you leave them for dust, lost count of the number of Audis/Vauxhalls/BMWs/VWs/etc have been left looking silly when they've tried to barge past. I de-badged the car, so they don't know what's in there;)
- Interior feel/style. I agree, it's just a nice place to be, everything's in the right place, good quality leather/dash, and all moveable parts 'clunk' satisfyingly
- As a female driver, often alone or with my young son, I love that the doors lock automatically above 10mph. Gives a much better feeling of safety at traffic lights, especially as I used to do it myself in my own car - or at least was meant to, but kept forgetting:rolleyes:
- Key fob/start button combo. Much more practical and convenient than the usual turning key idea (once you get used to it). Also that the key separates from the stalk so that the bunch of keys doesn't hang down and scratch the dash.

Dislikes (more irritations than dislikes, really):

- The big one for me (I usually have my 3 year old with me) is that there's nowhere to put anything:rolleyes: . No cupholders, no cubby holes (apart from that thin one in the centre console that's too narrow to put anything in), nowhere to keep my sunglasses, etc. It means that I am that woman you see on the road driving whilst juggling 3 things I am trying to pass my son/he has passed to me, and sticking things like drinks between my knees
- I know it's a cliche with Alfas, and I'd love to not be adding to it, but things keep randomly dropping off, and it's annoying:rant: . When it was only 2 weeks old, I was driving along, and the whole rear view mirror unit (including the black box with the rain sensor) suddenly fell off and landed on the gear stick, gave me a h*ll of a fright. Just yesterday, again driving along, and a small, black screw rolled under my foot from under the driving seat. Am hoping it wasn't holding anything important together;)
- The interior seems to get dirtier quicker than any other car I've ever had:confused: No idea why.
- erm, that's it really

2)The interior Looks and Design - superb.

4)That Alfa logo that lights up
5)....looks its an Alfa!

Dislikes:
1)The sound of the Diesel
2)The Alloys are sooooo easy to kerb
3)The fiddley fan speed rocker switch (though I know they've now changed it)
4)The Auto-wipers are not particularly Auto
5)The front end being so prone to stone chips

I've thought of another thing that makes me smile about my car;). The fact that, depending on its mood and what it's doing, the engine can go from sounding like a tractor to sounding like a racecar. How many cars can you say that about?

Love:
1/ exterior style
2/ interior design - a driver's car
3/ torque of the mighty 2.4JTDm
4/ racy red leather
5/ it's unusual

Niggles:
1/ sound of the 2.4JTDm on a cold morning...
2/ very thirsty
3/ auto wipers have a mind of their own
4/ standard stereo sounds a bit flat
5/ trying to ignore the resale values
