I didn't get a spider but got a GT on a similar deal - the first payment of 3X the monthly payment was taken when the car was picked up - takes a week or so for the payment was taken out. The monthly payments are then taken one month from when he car is picked up.
I paid the 3 months up front as a deposit to allow the dealer to PDI the car ( we went from enquiry through stock search to delivery in under 3 weeks)
They never actually took the payment though, they refunded the card once the direct debit was set up and Fiat started taking the money. So I didnt actually pay anything up front.
I done mine overthe phone and on tinterweb, so I hadnt actually signed anything, so the deposit was of course reasonable!
Well I put down £1000 deposit with dealer. I got that refunded by the dealer when I collected the car. FAC took the 3 months up front a few days after collecting the car.
My first payment was due out roughly 5 days after i collected the car. I phoned FAC to change this to the beginning of the month as it was roughly the middle when i collected. (i like everything coming out at the beginning of each month)
This was changed OK but it then generated a partial invoice for the period of change. This had to be paid roughly the same time as the new date for the initial 3 payments.
Thought i'd let you know in case anyone's thinking of doing the same!
Hey GTVScott - if you want to make yourself feel better when the 3x payment hits your account, get a quote tomorrow for what a £25500 Spider would cost you on tomorrow's best finance package.
It'll be a whole lot worse that about a grand followed by 24/36 payments of not much more than £300.......
Too true spoke to my best buddy who is a regional business/finance manager within Honda UK and he said the deal was fantastic and to put me in a like for like model e.g s2000 you would be looking at nearly double!!!
Yes my mate has just looked at a 2.2 lusso on a PCH and was quote £360 without maint - he almost keeled over when I told him the spider was £350 inc maint.
what normally happens is they FAC take the initial rental on collection, so any deposit will be re-funded, and then one month on the next one, hope this clears up the muddy waters?
Yup - although I talked about how I might have been better going for a Z4 (for performance), I neatly forgot to mention that for an extra £100 I'd be in a Z4 2.0 with cloth seats and no toys.
I'd have needed the 3.0 to get the performance I like and that would be £250 a month more than the Spider.
Hallo guys,
My undersanding is that the 3x monthly payment is as such a deposit payable on collection (or soon thereafter). Feel pity for me, the spider LE I collect next Saturday required a hefty deposit (£2500) as the deal most of you seem to have benefited from is no longer available (I called 20 dealers), not even from indipendent leasing companies as these have no stock of LE's. I will pay through the odds for mine, the equivalent of TT or Audi 4 Cabrio per month.
I hope it's worth it - I'm getting nervous after reading so much about defects (performance isn't an issue for me, as I live in central London: I just want a pretty car and I think the Spider looks good enough to call her Kylie and buy her underwear!!!).
Excited and nervous in london...
