Made three new sound files of my bog-standard 147 tonight, they're out on my site in the "My 147" section... Could be good as startup files on your computer at work, scare some colleagues! This was the last step before I'm ready to mount a K&N Air filter onto it, I will then do three new recordings in a similar manner using the same (crappy) equipment, so that those of you who are pondering getting an air filter can know the actual difference in sound, both inside and outside the car! And under the bonnet, where of course all alfisti would most like to put the driver's seat if possible?

:D :D :D

For the Alfa service, ok I’m not saying that did a bad job, but I know here many “expert” and Alfa mechanics that have learn their jobs by “mail” or something!
The installation that you have, have 1 good think (less tube and curves) and 1 bad think (overheating in Countries with “normal” temperature).
After many tests I’ve find that the best place to put the intake is after the battery like I have.
There you have only cool air and no danger from getting water in some “street swimming pools”. :(
I have a carbon fiber intake and I’ve not place the air filter in your place because it’s too big! eek!
But don’t worry if you don’t notice any power lost, its ok like this. wink </strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">so what did you do with the MAF sensor Paulo did you disable it?

PS they look way cool Ulf, congrats wink  :D

Sorry Paulo, didn't mean to misspell your name (if I'm not mistaken it's not the first time either!). Yep, I agree with you in what you're saying. Do you have a piccy of how you've done it on yours? Would be interesting to see. Yes, I've been thinking about heat shielding, boxes and pipes and whatnot. Because in the summertime it's usually 15-25 degrees here so! Also, I've been thinking about adding a tube to where the original intake comes out, if you see the round hole at the bottom of this pic:
http://www.147dude.com/album_kn/newfilter_1.jpg
(under the filter is a tube, and directly under the tube is a black round hole, that's the one).

How about adding a pipe there that point up to the filter, any use?

Guys, thanks, I'll record some sounds as soon as possible. Tomorrow I'm going out with no car attached, so it mightn't be untill Sunday... :D :D :D

THAT SOUND!!!! vrrooooom...... :D

and the ecotek should be connected to the brake vacuum pipe i think, not the oil breeder!?

anyway, we'll see tomorow wink

To 147dude, I’m not mad, I just want to tell everyone I’m Paulo. :)
To G-147, no…it was not to the microwave! eek! :D
To Banflu & 147dude, the MAF sensor if upside-down, behind the battery.
The small air filter is called breather filter.
I’ve installed that breather filter because I had to remove the main air tube and the breather tube.
If you see in your engine you have a small air tube that is connected from the engine to the main air tube, that small tube is called breather tube.
When you remove the breather tube you cannot closet, that’s why I’ve installed a breather filter, and then I’ve installed a small plastic bottle to retain small oil drops that came out from that tube.
This mod is called “CCV Bypass”, CCV=(Crank Case Ventilation).
There are breather filter from K&N, BMC, etc, but I’ve used a cheap one from a scooter.
The small bottle you can “steal” one from your mother/wife cosmetics. :)
This can be all done in DIY, there is a DIY menu in my site with more explanations, but I didn’t have the time to translated to English.

To 147dude, you can install an air conditioner metal tube to send more air to your intake, but I think the place I have mine is perfect, no water, not too dust, fresh, etc…
Waite until summer then you see if its ok or not. wink

147dude,

Great sounds... complements on your web site, real nice!

My wife thought I had gone and recorded the 156 Selespeed (she recognised the rev blip), cos she says, that's just the kind of thing I would do! :D

Enjoyed listening to it!

Any Guinness in Norway??

Hi guys! Haven't had time to do the K&N recordings, but will get them done this week I think. Alfauser, yup, they have Guinness here, but it doesn't taste like in Dublin :((lived there for 2 years!)

Just got back from go-karting with the Oslo division of the Norwegian Alfa Owner's Club! Fun stuff! :D :D :D

great stuff Paulo! btw did you think about taking your car on a dyno to check its bhp/torque output?</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thx Banflu…I’m not a Tuning Expert/professional  , I’m only a person that Loves Alfa Romeo cars (and others…) and Love talking about cars and engines.
Every think I know I have learning by myself and by talking to many people.
Some thinks I already try and others I may try in the future, the only thinks I have certain is the ones I’ve try myself, the other I can only tell other people experience.
I know many tuners here in Portugal, and for almost 2 years I was moderator of one of the biggest Tuning sites in Portugal.
But now because the changing’s in my job, I don’t have much free time like before. :(
For the Dyno, I don’t think it would be a great increase of power but maybe in the next service I do one. wink
(Some Dyno machines are not so good, too much power than reality sometimes! eek! )

not even me! wink I'll get bothered when i have money for more tuning! :D </strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don’t care…
Now I don’t have money to do more tuning, but I can still dream! (is cheaper) :)

I’m also going to record the sound from my intake, but don’t confuse the sound with an exhaust eek! …I don’t have one. :( (yet!)

147dude, thx for the recipes in your site.
