Dashboard lights not working

As the title, my dashboard lights don't light up when I turn the headlights on, neither do the lights on the back of the car.

My initial thought was a blown fuse, but they all seem fine. I just had a thought though: when I bought the car, whilst wiggling the seat around to find a comfortable driving position, I kicked one of the relays out of place under the dashboard and the same thing occurred. Now my car's been in the body shop all week and the guy had moved the seat, so I'm thinking he may have done the same thing. The thing is though, the relays are all in place, but I'm thinking he might have knocked them out and put them back in the wrong positions.

So my question is, is there a right or wrong order in which the relays go? If not, why on earth have my lights stopped working

TIA

OK Long shot but posible.... there is a button which can give you varying degrees of lumination to the dash lights. Its like a half trianglre on its side on left hand side of wheel, press that to see if light gets brighter....

Just a thought as i had same prob once then realised it was this..:)

Thought this was a good suggestion but then read that the rear lights are not working so perhaps not, unless of course there are two different problems ?

Can't help with which relay goes where but would think that they are not all the same so not interchangeable at random.

Are the fuses all seated correctly and not loose. Has he kicked any connectors off in the area where he may have been. A good eyeball with a torch would be my first idea, after that......?

I can't see anything unusual, all fused are in place. It's definitley not the dash brightness. I'll have a double check to see if anything looks suspicious, but what are the possibilities of a relay being knocked out of place and getting damaged? They look pretty OK, but I don't know how durable they are.

Well it's a good result in the end so be happy with that. It is annoying when you take a car in for work on one thing and they **** up something else while their at it.

Sorry it's a long time ago and I don't remember much about this.

Good luck, maybe someone will remember more about this.
