Hello,

the thing is, despite my alfa already looking so awesome :)p) i am thinking of putting on the GTA body kit on my 147 2.0. the things i am planning to add and change are the front/rear bumpers, side skirts and rear spoiler.

I read in some posts that the wings need to be changed to make it really look like a GTA but i think its a complicated process. please clarify this.

So, how much would the car resemble the GTA if the above things are done and is there anything im missing?

thanks in advance.

GTA arches are wider, so GTA bumpers & sills wouldn't line up with the std arches properly.
So you would need front wings & rear quarter panels, which would get expensive.

Alternatively there are GTA lookalike bumpers available that fit with the std arches.

Can't give the front wing details because I don't know anything except thatthey are different. Not sure about the rear quarters either, but you'll definitely miss the following:

That great engine :) (and it's fuel consumption).

The GTA sits a little lower than the standard and you'll probably want to get hold of nice wheels like 17" GTA teledials. This leaves the front brakes rather visible so maybe bigger front callipers.

Some other bits and bobs are the seats and the darker colour of the centre console fascia. There are also GTA stainless steel scuff plates on my sills.

Edit: I see David's now covered the rear quarters. GTA instrument dials are black too but they are a complete pain to see in anything except direct light so I'd leave them as they are already.

Personally I couldn't have a GTA lookalike without it really being one.

My car has a body kit - an Autodelta J12 Evo one with the exhaust to match. True, the twin exhaust makes it look like it's faster than it really is as it doesn't have the turbo but I'm happy with it.

It doesn't pretend to be a GTA but it sure is a unique looking 147. :D

I had a mate who did the full conversion on a salvage car he purchased he managed to get hold of the front wings, rear arches were moulded on and front and rear bumpers of course. He did a really good job he even went to the extent of changing the alloys and interior. I just wish i still had the pictures.

Umm...cost? I'm not that sure as the car was already modified when I bought it...

Lowered? Yes with yellow Koni adjustable shocks and red Eibach springs. I also have uprated Anti Roll bars front and back.
If you look on Autodelta's site you'll get a rough idea of prices, but of course that won't include spraying the parts and fitting. I don't think the parts I have on mine are listed any more as they've been updated.

Surely the drive shafts all have to be changed along with the tracking arms, suspension arms, wisbones etc in order for the wheels to fit the wider track, otherwise the wheels will be along way inside those arches??

The wider track of the GTA is all from the different offset wheels.

If you put GTA wheels on a std 156/147 you get exactly the same track as the GTA versions.

Im looking at getting a jtd 147 sometime next month, probably 95% sure....the only thing in my mind is im not overly keen on the standard looks. Given, it is a pretty car, but im after something abit more aggressive and sporty.

How much would making it look like a GTA cost (not because i want an imitation, just appreciate the looks)?

Are there any other kits which include wider arches?

cheers, james

It's not wider but in my opinion the Autodelta J12 Evo kit is the best 147 kit out there for non GTAs.

Unfortunately Autodelta are struggling in getting the kit made as they have little demand for it as it's only for the pre-facelift 147 and their production team(in Oxford ?) are being real slow about it!
Someone hit my rear bumper in a parked car park over 6 months ago - the first bumper arrived within 6 weeks which was fine but it was damaged in transit so had to be reordered by my local garage and it still hasn't arrived! My local garage is looking into repairing the 1st one now...

Not good for Autodelta, especially as they are the main Alfa mod company with recognition.
