airbag warning light

Hi all,

just joined yesterday, hoping somedody may be to help with a couple of problems. I drive GT (2005 2.0l) and recently the airbag warning light has started coming on intermittently while driving... anyone encountered similar problems on GT? ...also I damaged an alloy on the wonderful Irish backroads (pothole!). It's the 17" 16 spoke type and I actually bent the spokes so can't be repaired (I suppose it's possible the vibration may have caused the airbag problem). I've been quoted over €400 (latest €590!!) for a new rim from Alfa garages and wonder if anyone knows where I could get good quality replica. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Susky..

airbag errors can relate to the side airbags in the seats, and the connecting eletrical plug underneath. a poor connection can cause errors, and is known to occur. more likely to be this than a fault with the curtain or front airbags.

not sure on the wheels (i'm not local to you). bit of a bugger.

:)

..ta for that. I take even if I find a dodgy connector I'm looking at a dealer reset of ecu? Been on to one dealer already and got the usual vagueness about how long I'd have to leave it in for, and perish the thought about getting an estimate for cost!!

I had the light come on and off when I bought my 2004 GT in the summer. My local Alfa garage found a dodgy connector under the passenger seat. They made a "new connection" (not sure what that actually meant) and it's been absolutely fine ever since. They charged just over £50 to reset the ECU from memory.

Had the same problem in my old 156 with the airbag warning light coming on, although I recall the problem was something to do with the ECU itself that time.

Either way, get it to a dealer I reckon!

...ta me laddies, will have a proper look at the connectors when I get the chance. My youngfella is in and out of the back so the driver seat is moved around a lot ...as for the wheel, for the record, I'm getting a full set for £500 including delivery, from GTAItalian wheels (they would have done just one as well) ...I'm assured they're identical (they look it) and imported in from Italy from the same factory it seems. We'll see...
