I had to replace both my trackrod ends as one had gone but the drivers side locknut was mauled and seized. I want to replace it when I cut it off. What size and thread is it?
Hi yes the new track rod ends are on but the only nut you get with it is for the balljoint end what I am after it the track control rod lock nut. You know the one you loosen off to adjust the tracking. The one on mine is mauled and seized to the track control rod.
I've just measured the ones on my car for diameter. They come to 13mm dead. Which is odd. If the thread is M13, I would expect the measurement to be 12.7mm ( ish ) whereas if the thread were M14 then it would measure 13.6mm (ish ).
Can you take the arm ( old or new ) to a motor factors to see if they can find a nut to fit?
Sorry, I'm with you now! Soak overnight with WD40 or similar then use a bit of heat from a plumbers torch on the nut, it should come off easily. Not sure what size they are though, sorry.
Yeah I have been hitting it with Penetron spray now every night when I get home and the nut on the drivers side seized to the track rod. I got the old track rod ends off but no budge to the lock nut at all.
