I could use some of your expertise on something I was having a think on. I am looking to upgrade the sound system on my Brera. I am looking for something similar to the Bose sound system that is optioned with it and the Blue&Me system. Is it possible to add the systems to the car? I still want that integrated feel, so I dont really want a new head unit or huge speakers. ANy help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Lawrence
p.s. sorry if this maes no sense, in a rush writing this just now.
I looked into the Bose upgrade and was quoted a price of £2000. Instead I bought a set of infinity speakers from Halfords, had them fitted in the parcel shelf - neat and compact. Fantastic sound and all for £50 inc fitting.
Has anyone tried fitting better speakers into the existing speaker locations. In my standard Brera I believe iit is the speakers which let the system down. In the past (I can't remember which car) I managed to find some after market speakers which were exactly the same size as the originals which made a remarkable difference. That was some time ago. Is there any degree of standardisation of speaker fitting holes now? They can obviously fit the normal c**p standard issue ones or the uprated Bose ones.
Hiya, The speaker cones in the doors are actually a decent size - 16 cm I think. It depends how much bass you are looking for but I find the high end response reasonable - it's only 2 weeks old. How long have you had the car? Needs a few months for the speakers to bed in.
Are you looing for more bass or richer treble?
If you want replacement speakers, I had some great Infinitys in my GTV. Your local specialist will be able to tell you what size you need (and should stock most different sizes). Alternatively, take the grills off and measure them!
As for the Blue & Me, I don't think you can retrofit it, you would have to retrofit some other bluetooth system and a seperate Ipod/mp3 connection. There are several threads on that in here already, you could do a search.
excellent. thanks for your help. its much appreciated. Well I was looking for richer bass. My old car had a great system and I miss the quality. The quality in the breras still not bad tho. I just liked the idea of the bose sound system and how its subwoofer fitted over the wheel arch snuggly in the boot (i think). Ill have a look into it. Any more advice would be great. thanks again.
Well if it's bass you are looking for, it shouldn't be a problem. Someone on here retrofitted a secondary amplifier and subwoofer, mounted in the boot. Should be fairly easy to be and will accomplish what you are looking for. you could do a thread search along the lines of "retrofit sub" or "Brera retrofit".
I just retrofit the standard radio with the factory Ipod cable, not the Blue & me. It work ok, you can control volume and track with the steering controls, but I´m very disapointed because I expected to actually see on the radio screen the track information as displayed on the Ipod. Somebody has the B & Me to let me know if it works with the Ipod info?
The track info from the Media Player shows on the centre section of the dash !! The display on the radio just shows which input is currently playing !!
It is an FM transmitter, but it is tethered. (you plug it in between
the car antenna and the HU.) So reception is 100x better than an iTrip.
It also uses RDS to display it's menu on the HU.
It has two audio inputs and 1 USB socket. (I've got 4Gb usb key in mine at the moment.) It plays MP3 and WMA I think.
It's pretty sweet. But sound quality is obviously compromised.
There is an ipod interface available for it. But I don't know
how much/good it is.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
