Hi,

I am considering buying something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-new...-GTA-3-2-V6-chrome-effect-badge-/370729193908

or this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-A...GTA-3-2-V6-Chrome-Badge-60690905/221639847806

for the back of my car (yes I do actually have a 3.2 but it doesn't have the sticker/badge at the moment)

Is there an easy way to line these up when you put them on? I would need to get the position right, and the 3.2, V, & 6 are all separate stickers. I'm worried if I do it wrong it might look wonky and fake. Has anyone done this before and have a good method for lining each sticker up and getting the spacing right?

Apologies if you think this is a bit anal, any advice appreciated!

Sounds like a good plan, I will give this a go next week sometime when the stickers arrive. Might try that method coupled with some extra masking tape to mark out the distances from the edge of the boot panel. I will try and remember to take some photos to share for anyone else wanting to do this.

That's what've done before. If you arrange them as you want them (face up) over some grid/lined paper so they are straight with the right distances between, then carefully put some tape on the face, joining them together (i used some good duck tape cut to size so you can see what you're doing). Then peel off the backs of the stickers and align on the car. Once on and pressed down just carefully peel away the duck tape. Good idea to lay a line of masking tape on the car to use as a guide - and step back a bit to make sure it's straight.

Ok, stickers have come and I have applied. End result looks pretty sweet, thanks for the advice. Attached is a link to some progress photos for anyone interested. :)

Basically I measured the distances from the edge of the panel to the existing GT badge, and used masking tape and a marker pen to mark the corresponding place on the other side. The badge sticker I bought actually came with a clear tape overlay with white edging over the top of it to keep each sticker in place.

EDIT: One other thing to mention is that I used some white spirit to clean the area on the panel before application. Was suggested to me by a guy at work and I managed to get a lot of oil/dirt/grease off before sticking the badge on by using a microfibre cloth dabbed in spirit.
