Hi, got to work this morning and when i parked up and turned the engine off, it juddered. I then let it idle and went through the rev range and it started to judder at about 3000 revs. Ive read a few posts and one specifically about DMFs, however when i push the clutch in and turn off it still judders. Ive inspected the engine mounts and whilst im not certain they look ok. Anyone have any suggestions i may have overlooked, before i part with my hard earnt cash? Thanks

Think the only way is to type the text of the pictures in, big job, but we should have an alfaowner version, or maybe someone already knows what he is doing and can improvise an english one?

Maybe add an extra step for cleaning the electrical contacts as mine looked manky.....

Was there any outcome with this? Im about to embark on a mission to clean EGR and MAP sensor and possibly change the VGT actuator pipes this weekend, Need to have all the info before I screw it all up!!

Im fairly new to this so....the butterfly valve that is on here looking fairly dirty.....where would I locate that?
I have a 2001 2.4JTD 156

maf removal and clean, loss of power, judder on switch off,

I've got a power loss at < 2500 rpm and a judder on turn off so after reading plenty of posts I set about it this weekend. First off I cleaned the EGR valve which you cant go wrong with the guide on here, then I cleaned the intake body where the butterfly valve is. All staight forward.

Next up was cleaning the MAF sensor. Plenty of posts just say disconnect it to see how it runs. No-one seems to point out that the MAF and therefore electrical connection is located directly under the battery tray! So only I could figure to access was take the battery out, then go about disconnecting the fuse box in order to finally get the battery tray out, what an effort. I couldnt find a decent guide to removing the MAF sensor but for reference on one side mine was in by 2x10mil bolts, one which is accessible from above, the other which isnt! So had to jack the car up and tackle one of the bolts from underneath. In order to access I had to take the lower turbo hose off, then unbolt the Pierburg VGT valve to pull aside which is bang in the way. With that done the other side of the MAF was on by a weird metal jubilee type clip that had a slot in. I managed to wedge it off and it pinged off. The MAF was now loose but still a bugger to get out, had to just wiggle free with a bit of brute force. When that was cleaned up I wedged it back in, but couldnt for the life of me get that metal clip back on, so did a bodge job with a plastic cable tie for now!

Im still waiting for the silicone vac hoses to arrive from ebay (btw halfrauds were charging £15 for a 5mm hose but got a 1m one off ebay for £1.82 free delivery!), but I noted the VGT actuator arm doesnt move on start-up/revving. I sucked on the hose from the actuator and the arm moved a fair bit so must be a vac problem.

Finally, a couple of questions...does the Pierburg valve's electical connection just pull off? I couldnt see a clip so tried yanking it off but couldnt get it unhooked? Once off I'll clean it up using that Polish link! To confirm, is the hose from the Pierburg valve to the VGT actuator arm the 3mm one and the hose from the vac resevoir the 5mm one? The latter no-one seemed to mention it goes on like a 3m convoluted path up by the battery tray meandering to the back of the engine which looks pretty much inaccessible! So hoping that one is ok. These hoses currently have a metal tie keeping them on the Pierburg, when/if I replace them do I need some form of tie to keep them on or should they be okay?

Bit of an essay that, but once sorted Im hoping she'll run like a dream as its been re-mapped to 190bhp! :p Mines a 147 jtdm 150bhp btw

when you take vacuum hoses off youll work it out ..follow hose from flap control to vacuum pump and replace that as well

replace vacuum hoses jtd pierburg VGT valve

So now that I had some new silicone hoses I've tried replacing them this afternnon to cure my lack of power < 3000rpm but it didnt go too well!

When trying to get the top hose that is fed from the vacuum resevoir, it snapped the plastic nozzle clean off the Pierburg VGT valve. (see pic) How the hell these original hoses were put on I have no idea, maybe heat treated? I couldnt even get the bottom one off with that metal clip on it keeping it in place (not sure you need a special tool for them?)

So I have ordered a new Pierburg valve for Mon. But I need help with the top hose. As you can see in the schematic, the top vac hose is labelled no.5....it goes into an bigger dia elbow line that labelled no.4 And then goes through a tubing that houses a few other lines and finally into the back of the vac resevoir.......I just managed to fit my phone down to take the pic with arrow showing the hose.

Presumably I need to replace the full length hose?
Is the hose on a similar nozzle from the vac reservoir?? I tried yanking it but it is well n truly stuck so dont want to risk snapping any nozzle or attachment off the vac resevoir?!

What would be the check to see if this top vac hose has no leak? I was able to suck through it so would this indicate a leak, but the engine was off so the vac resevoir wouldnt be doing anything right?

Pretty peeved off with this as everyone says its a 10min job, so any help to the above questions would be greatly appreciated!
