I got my ICS code this morning so now have music to listen to rather than the purr of my 166!

I called Caledonia in Preston where my car was originally purchased from and they contacted some national database for radio codes and after my paying £17 i've now got a working ICS again!

The whole thing took a couple of hours in total.

Mangoletsi wanted to take the ICS out get some information off the side then send it all off to Becker before giving me some huge bill!
"If you need a ICS code...and no-one else can help maybe you should call...caledonia in preston(0845 456 7916)"

My 166 is back to how she was a few days ago now at a cost to me of £147! But she's worth it!

that was pretty much the situation with my code - phoned the local dealer (not the original supplier dealer) and they just wanted to see the V5 and then clickety click on the fiat computer and they gave me my ICS code (and other codes) for 15 squid....easy peasy, although easy money for them!

You guys were lucky!
I tried the same thing shortly after purchasing my second hand 166 only to be told that it was probably an import as it was not on the UK register. Alfa in Italy confirmed this.
I tried some of the fixes mentioned on previous threads (pressing CLIMA and DARK at the same, disconnecting the battery again and running through a set up system on reconnection) but none of them worked.
I then took it to Alan Gibson in Basingstoke who took out the ICS unit (I tried unsuccessfully to do this myself). The ICS code was not written on the unit so they would take the serial number and send it off to Siemens. That was 6 weeks ago and I have not heard anything and the guy who was dealing with it (John Covey) won't even take or return my calls now.
I also asked Alan Gibson to get me a new key and key code. Firstly they forgot to order the key, then when I went to have it programed they had the wrong key (no remote so it would not work with my existing key which has a remote). I then found out they had obtained the wrong key code. They charged me £80 for this which got me nowhere.
I usually use an independent Alfa garage (Palmer & Phillips in Oxford) for my repairs so they are now looking into it. I am more hopeful as they have already obtained the correct key code.
That's my rant over - I feel better already!

But surely you didn't pay them? What, actually, did they do for you then?
