My 07 159 has just developed a slight 'whistle' like a metal on metal noise when the Climate Control is on. It is not clear what is causing it and the indy has advised a Forum prior to a dash rip out !!
Incidentally, the A/C condenser has been holed and the refrigerant leaks.
Had this problem. If it's a metallic grinding (like the noise of a circular saw in the distance!), when the a/c cycles on, it is likely to be the a/c compressor clutch slipping.
Can be caused by too much a/c gas, not enough a/c gas, or (in my case) a dodgy compressor which was replaced under warranty.
So, if you're leaking refrigerant, it's probably a bad idea to be running the a/c. Get it patched, properly re-gassed and then check
my metallic fan noise was fixed by topping up my ac gas. if you're leaking gas then this sounds like your issue. As stated by previous poster you need to patch up your system
I had the same issue with mine. Just had it regassed and serviced - all OK and quite now
