Hi all,
I have a strange problem. I was looking at the car at the weekend and noticed that there was oil on the front right hand corner of the head coming from under the engine cover. I took off the cover to investigate and found it all covered in oil which looks like it has been there for some time as it is quite sticky. When I looked around the bits near to the cap it is clear oil vapours have been escaping somehow. When looking at the oil filler cap I noticed at the bottom of the stem which it screws on to that there was a rubber gasket which is v-shaped on a cross section. As this was sitting at the bottom and not making any kind of seal I guess this is where the oil vapours are coming from to condense under the engine cover.
Only problem is that I have no idea how it is meant to go. There is another rubber seal inside the cap still which is clearly to make a seal on the top of the stem but what is this other one for and how is it meant to attach?
Thanks
