hunting for revs???

156 1.8 hunts for revs while idling been toldto clean choke valve but not to sure of location any help???:confused::thumbs:

hunting =:

1. air leaks post maf [ check corrugated/ribbed piping ofr cracks

2. faulty maf

3. water or oil in plug wells

4. lose timing belt

5. worn variator [ diesel sound on start up ]

choke valve ??? .... perhaps 'purge valve'?

try getting the car diagnosed..... a fella calle dinto me a few days back, his engine was idling badly. I used the laptop to connect to the ecu & it reported 'Purge Valve Open Circuit'

so under the throlle body is where the purge valve is located & sure enough the connector wasn't on it.

how or why it wasn't is any ones guess
