Hi guys,

Went back to my garage on saturday to sort the alarm issue & raise the idling issue. Turned out all it needed to reactivate was to disconnect the battery for a while then turn on again!

Anyway, took it for a long drive this weekend here, there & everywhere. Found it very smooth at "some" mph, all fine, gave it a nice shakedown. This morning, 5 minutes from parking up at work, engine warning light came on! :(

I really am thinking it's MAF issue or disconnected sensor somewhere. I don't feel a drop in power, idles still between 650 & 800 rpm, no misfiring, nothing out of the ordinary to report, I'm going to have a better look at lunchtime

:( :( :( :( :(

the best bet is to get the fault code read. Not worth the time and effort guessing. Half hour labour cost to find out.

Also, just wondering, if the MAF is busted & needs replacing, can it still be driven normally? It's just for me I need it for work (Skoda went bust again) so I need to keep driving. Is it safe?

since it's a CF3 engine a relatively cheap code scanner will do the job and reset and errors....the engine warning light (yellow one) comes on with a knacked CF3 maf. Reset it and i bet it will be on after 50 miles but the codes will tell you something about O2 etc but it's the MAF :D

I'll be up at the wekend then Niall.....Oh you are CF3 EOBD AARgh...

Mines are CF2:cheese: :cheese: :cheese:

Why does nothing ever work out the way you want....But the MAfs are cheaper..well the noo anyway.

Wow, after all that took it back to garage today. Stuck diagnostics into it - was giving erratic voltage readings at O2 sensors - turns out that there is an air leak at the throttle body - the gasket has bust.

Such a small simple thing causes a lot of grief!
