Some rust in the spare wheel well as advised in the MOT test

I'll try to get the back bumper off over the weekend to have a look at the back panel as I know it is a bit rusty as at some point in its life someone has run into the back of it.

Located some front wings from Steve Parry (Mr Sud) so I'll get them ordered Monday which is one thing off the shopping list.

Hi Mark. I'm going to have a word with one of the guys who does body repairs on the sales cars at work about it and get sorted before it gets any worse.

Had the rear bumper off today in have a look at the rear panel. I little bit of rust and a few dents:)

Collected the new wings from Steve Parry yesterday. One is brand new and the other is second hand but in good condition. Also got from him some new rear lamp lens screws. Still got the wings in the boot of the 147. Just got to find somewhere safe to put them.

They are used ones. Two of them had corroded in, so had to break/drill the heads off so I could pull the lens over them and use a pair of pliers on the stubs. Gave the new ones a coating of Vaseline to make it easier if I need to take off the lens at any point. I have been told that some of the older Fiats use the same type of screws if that helps.

Well I've done a bit of stripping, just removed the carpeting in the boot for now. I'm planning a respray for around the first three months of next year. I've had a quote for a respray, a little bit less than what I was expecting but going to try a few others places first.

Got the luggage cover removed and the back part of the seat today. To remove the base of the rear seat, do you have to get underneath the car to remove it?
Mine just lift straight out once the upright part has been removed. The base is held in place by two pegs that locate in holes in the chassis itself. I notice you have seat belts though (mine hasn't) so may be different. I would not expect you to have to get underneath the car as the petrol tank is immediatly below the seat making access pretty tricky.

No, rear seat is not bolted you just have to ligt it from the front and pull it out. It has 2 plastic pokes that since you havent move it a while they might have been stuck. I have also rear seatbelts and there is no difference...

Just a couple of questions.

How do you remove the bonnet air vents? I've removed the clips off the back of them but they won't seem to come out.

Secondly, the air vent grills behind the rear quarter glass, how do you remove them?

Its booked in at the bodyshop on the 12th of January
Sorry I could not help with your vents question but good to see others on here have the knowledge !

Have you tried removing the cover to the rear window mechanism (brass plate) ? I wanted to on mine as the passenger side window is stuck (round knob will not turn). I've tried undoing the bolts but it looks like there has to be a way of holding the nut on the other side as the bolt just loosens some way but won't come fully undone.

Anyone else encountered this problem ?

Mark, its great seeing your pictures as I have almost the exact same car and can compare the two. For instance, I notice you have a rubber strip where the roof seam meets the top of the tail gate. Mine is missing and the seam is very rusty, something I'm working on as a priority. Keep up the excellent work !
