Hi
I have 2002 147 1.6 T Spark my shocks front and rear are completely shot. The quotes I get for replacing are between R600 and R7000. Am considering fitting coil overs but don't seem to find anyone on Gumtree or Facebook that can assist me. I am in Cape Town, Kraaifontein area.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Actually wanna try it fit them myself.
Go to alfisti.net, they have a lot of good stuff on there often on offer. Or you could try and source some Gita shocks, good upgrade. Why coil overs if you don't mind me asking?
While shopping around for shocks a friend told me why don't I try coil overs. Checked a few pics online and the cars looked "cool" with coil overs. I am open to any advice or suggestions. Am new to Alfa.
Heya Curly, welcome to AO - come introduce yourself to the SA crowd - more local knowledge on where to buy what there in the "Parts and Services" thread, etc.
Maxtrax make affordable coil-overs that are not completely poopy. Monroe shocks for 147 should be available in SA - that is the best bang-for-buck OEM replacement shock here
I'm no expert but as far as I'm aware coilovers are the 'gold standard'. You can adjust height and stiffness etc so ideal for regular track use. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can help me out?
I'm in the process of getting suspension sorted and can't justify the expense of coilovers on my '99 1.8 156.
What do you want from your 1.6TS? If you're not doing it up as a track car I would save money and spend it on other areas ie eibach roll bars, powerflexing etc. Or stuff like updrading to 1.8 cams.
Coil overs or not you will get what you pay for. There are junk coil overs and junk standard equivalent.
