Hi Ian,
I don't know if I've got a glitch on my end or if it is a board glitch.
When I tried to log in, I kept getting rejected.
I didn't hit the "remember me" button, because more than one person uses this computer, and I prefer to log in each time.
When I tried again and hit the "remember me button" it let me right in.
As I said I don't know if it's me and my computer, or the new board format.
Just thought you'd want to know.

Hi Ian
A couple of questions for you
1 Did you not consider to warn all us boys on the 155 froum what was gonna happen instead of just springing it on us
2 what happened to all the posts from the last 3 weeks and also where is our Meetings thread??????????
We were as you may have noticed half way to organising a National 155 MEET and all that appears to be lost now
Is there anyway you can salvage it

I agree speedy, it would have been nice to be informed of the change.
Not that change is a bad thing, just nice to be prepared for it................

@the 155 forum users
WT? You should have all recieved the mail shots, if you had disabled mailshots in your profile on the old 155 board, this would have been why.
This has now been mentioned for months, we will of course be creating new skins ASAP so that you may browse in your preffered scenery, but for now, any correspondance should be directed to me personally at ian.b@alfowner.com.
Regarding the loss of posts, AO and 155 have lost some posts, however, we will be arranging temporary read only access to both old boards shortly.
Please bear with us, in the mean time, please cast your minds back to a thread that was posted by me that mentioned a solution to the bandwidth issues, once you get used to the speed, features and services that this board has, such as Instant messaging, intergrated chat and thread subscriptions, you will not be turning back if given the choice.
If we loose people from this, then I am afraid that is purely bad news, but I am sure the majority will stay and strenghen there community.
Regards,
AO :rambo:

Guys, think this like moving home... you live some things behind, like the "room with the white wall", but you take all the feelings with you... we're still on Alfaowner... and on 155 forum.
You might think the place is a bit cold but soon it will warm up and you'll be glad to be here, with everyone. :classic:

after the initial WTF reaction when I logged in this morning, I'm getting used to getting around and I'm warming to the new forum. It seems better than the old alfaowner forum and I think its a good thing that we are all on one site now.....but I prefer the old "front end".
I remember the post about a solution to the bandwidth problem...but how about posting on it again telling of us what the solution was!
I didn't get a mailshot either, and I've never knowingly disabled anything in my settings.
I do think it is a change for the good, just wouldn't mind the last month of posts back on the 155 forum.

I have just begun to browse through the site so no comment can be made if better or worse? Given you guys are more IT than me it probably has a lot of features I may ever know of or use.
I would have liked to have been informed of the change prior to it happenening and a notice in the form of a thread on 155 saying it would have been a better way of communicating. As well as a notice of work in progress so that the request of keeping important things like the meeting threads could have been made or just being aware that it may be lost would have been an advantage.
Doing some more browsing and testing
Choose you color carefully
PS changing font and size is not happening (a work in progress I presume)

Looks different - a change is as good as a rest, so I approve on general principle.
The search appears to have changed a bit as well - what happened to all the missing posts (with all of their handy information)? Will they be along as soon as they've been coloured in? :ermm:

looking good!
it is a big bit differant... nice way forward tho.
just to comment re above 'emails'. I too didn't have any mailshot, I previously did get all other mailshots. A pre-warning post might have been an idea - not a criticism.. just an helpfull idea
also is it possible to recover any more recent posts... much appreciated.
but all in tho Ian.. nice looking and seems the best way forward with regards to bandwidth probs. hope all developments go ok.
rgrds to all.
oh and hello AO guys

As the "I'm driving" only allows you to enter 1 car, I was hoping to list the others in my signature.......but dont have the room to do so.
I'll fix this for you. The reason why it seems other members have "got away with it" is because there signatures were imported from the UBB forums and no limit was set to their signatures at that time .

How about deleting all the signatures which take up half your screen??
And please add "Sportwagon" to the list of cars we are allowed to have!!!
Thank you.

Sportwagon has been added . As for the signatures either disable them entirely which I don't think you'd like or only show each members sig once per thread or something. Let me know the suggestions in the Suggestions & Feedback forum.
